Phragmites Australis - The Common Reed

Traveling through Nelson County from Colleen to Gladstone, a few friends and I passed by some plants that grew really tall that resembled grass. Upon our return, I asked a friend to take a few photos of the plants, which I assumed were some sort of rush or

What's Going On? Where are the Bugs?

Well this year, it seems to me, has been a peculiar year. Now I read about climate change and find it most interesting. And it's curious to see the only people with insight on the topic are the politicians (I'm being facetious here. I avoid politics altoge

One Example of How Technology Benefits and Damages Society at the Same Time

Since the 80s, Society has been more and more directed to online resources. At some point, it not only tapped those resources -- it became part of those resources. In short, life became completely integrated with an online presence. Besides education and

The Tragedy of Anne Frank and Friends - August 4th 1944

I've often thought of Anne Frank, the young Jewess who, with her family members and some friends, was taken to the Concentration Camps. This terrible event took place August 4, 1944. It always reminds me of how low men and governments can sink when they pu

Blueberries -- How Do You Prefer Them, Raw or Cooked?

You like Summertime. You don't like the humidity. You don't like the heat. You don't even like the blaring sunshine. But you do enjoy the longer days. You do enjoy the delicious fruits. You do enjoy the savory vegetables. As to the fruits, you especially

What are Your Favorite Peach Varieties?

Although I'm not a fan of the heat or the humidity or the excess sunshine of the summer, I am a huge fan of its longer days, its fruits, and its vegetables. Now my very favorite fruit is the peach. Living in Nelson County, Virginia, there are a number of

Do the Teeth Prove an Animal is Carnivorous?

We've known all our lives that some animals are carnivorous. They eat much meat, a few of them perhaps nearly exclusively. If someone was standing outside looking in, would there be a way to predict this habit? Say, the teeth? We've been conditioned to t

Let's Be Real and Give Bubblews Its Due

I vaguely recall hearing about a new writing site I'd figured was too good to be real. Its name? BUBBLEWS. Bubblews was basically a site that was willing to post just about everything and anything. They weren't fussy. AND, they offered great pay. Well,

What is Your Favorite Guy Scent?

Historically, there have long been scents of sorts, but perfumery had a more convincing following among the fairer sex. Certainly men are coming to see the light, as the expression goes. There are no official men's perfumes that I am aware of, but the same

Ever Discovered Your Little Burg is Famous for Something?

Well I'm not a native of Virginia, though I've lived here longer than anywhere else. Where? Nelson County, Virginia, USA. Well that little spot, if it was ever considered famous, was known for its moonshine, and later for its marijuana. I've tasted the for

Good day to you

May 27, 2017, 11:18 PM

I agree. I almost feel like the last man standing. I will begin fresh at HubPages and just a little bit at myLot. Meantime I will be available via email and will be reading more of your articles at Querky Science and Decoded Science. Maybe one day a new site will exist that pays and that provides some level of good writers. myLot is not a serious writing site but I find it comforting to be able to stay in contact with some former writers of Bubblews. I will never stop writing. It's always been my nature.

My user name is MegL. Is that the problem?

There should be some new type of format I agree. And if things keep going like they are I am not very encouraged I have to admit. I am glad you have always been supportive of me Vincent. You led me out of Yahoo! C N and into the land of bubbles. Things were going well for a while until the big bad Panda 4.0 algorythm. As of October 1, 2015 Google unrolled the latest update of Panda to version 4.2 and that was half a year ago.http://searchengineland.com/google-panda-4-2-is-still-rolling-out-232095

I can't remove a former comment I made. But in any case I appreciate you for following me. It means a lot to me.

I have got a Hubpage account, so I guess I'd better get busy using that! I keep an eye on your 'Quirky Science' pages.
