How Tall Are You?

I thought it would be fun and interesting to get to know something about our friends here at Persona Paper. Most of us have never met face-to-face. Even if we have seen a photograph of one another, if we were to meet, would we be looking up at someone, or down on someone (because of height only)? Do we judge people by their height? Some studies tell us that tall men are paid more than shorter men. Do you think that taller women have the same advantage? Shorter and petite females are often preferred in certain cultures. Please tell us, how tall are you? (For those on metric system, please find an easy converter here: http://www.convertunits.com/from/cm/to/inches)

I am 5ft 9.5in tall. My brother is 6 ft 3in; my sisters, 5ft 4in, 5ft 7in, and 5ft 2in.

My family on both sides are "vertically challenged." lol I am less that five foot tall; my maternal grandfather was a mere five foot himself. All of my kids are five foot six inches or taller.

inertia4 wrote on October 12, 2015, 12:32 PM

I am not that tall. I know I am 5 foot 5 inches. But, good things come in small packages.

CoralLevang wrote on October 12, 2015, 12:34 PM

I don't know why, but I picture you taller...about 5'5"

CoralLevang wrote on October 12, 2015, 12:36 PM

Why is it that the tall men go for the short women?

CoralLevang wrote on October 12, 2015, 12:37 PM

But will you wear 8-inch platform heels when you dance with me? Pretty please??

missfortune wrote on October 12, 2015, 12:56 PM

LOL any time someone asks me how tall I am I laugh and ask them if they want to measure me with my legs with my prosthetics off or on LOL

CoralLevang wrote on October 12, 2015, 1:07 PM

Your choice!! emoticon :winking:
I have had men stare at my boobs. When I catch them doing so, I ask them to pick which one (by sight) is my breast, and which is my belly.
ROFLMAO I think we have a similar off-beat sense of humor, dear woman. LOL

msiduri wrote on October 12, 2015, 1:20 PM

Tall enough to reach the floor, but not much farther, I'm afraid.

CoralLevang wrote on October 12, 2015, 1:30 PM

I remember in high school and young adulthood....the guys well over 6' tall...were with women 5'-5'6".... We Amazon babes got the spoils....men that size. emoticon :winking: We needed to swap.

CoralLevang wrote on October 12, 2015, 1:30 PM

Wait a sec....that sounded bad. I didn't mean that kind of swap. ROFLMAO

wolfgirl569 wrote on October 12, 2015, 1:57 PM

I used to be 5'4 but have shrank to 5'2 lol

Feisty56 wrote on October 12, 2015, 3:05 PM

It was funny in school because my best friend was a full foot taller than I. My Mom said we reminded her of Mutt and Jeff.

DWDavisRSL wrote on October 12, 2015, 3:28 PM

I am 5 feet 14 and 3/4 inches tall. I used to be 5 feet 15 inches but have shrunk just a tad.

JeanC wrote on October 12, 2015, 6:50 PM

I used to be 5' 3 1/2". I am now down to 5' 3". Gravity hasn't been kind to me emoticon

littlenancy wrote on October 12, 2015, 10:01 PM

Seriously...they don't call me little nancy because I'm tall...lol. I'm about 4'10''. I think. I might be shrinking.
There was only one time I didn't get a job because of my height.
In many things, being tiny is A-OK. Except for shelves. And cabinets. And shopping. I find myself saying, "Excuse me, sir, can you get that for me?" more than most people do.
It is a running joke (and yes, I have a sense of humor about it):
I am small, inconspicuous, and can fit anywhere.

cheri wrote on October 12, 2015, 10:06 PM

You know, most Asian women are not really that tall.

Paulie wrote on October 13, 2015, 3:33 AM

I am 5'9" and was fully grown at the age of 12. My father always told me that it's more important how tall you are in the mind than in physical stature.

CoralLevang wrote on October 13, 2015, 3:38 AM

That is too funny. My best friend in high school was just shy of a foot shorter than I. My mom said the same.

Feisty56 wrote on October 13, 2015, 9:29 AM

When I was in nursing school, a long time ago now, one of my instructors told me, "You know, they didn't used to allow short women to be nurses." I have about an inch on you, so she would have told you the same thing. I thought she was picking on me unnecessarily, but found out it was true back before electric beds as the beds were so high, shorter women couldn't reach across them, etc.

Feisty56 wrote on October 13, 2015, 9:31 AM

Maybe she wasn't joshing you at all -- maybe she was referring to tall as something other than physical stature, as in standing tall in life.

inertia4 wrote on October 13, 2015, 12:37 PM

I will not wear heels. I like tall women. That to me is the best. So I take it that you don't like short guys. Well, thats okay then.

DanieGirl8587 wrote on October 13, 2015, 5:28 PM

I'm 5 ft 7. Everyone says I'm pretty tall. I always wished I was a little shorter since high heels obviously make me look giant. Luckily my hubby is 6ft :)

littlenancy wrote on October 13, 2015, 9:43 PM

I can't say I have been picked on for it a lot. A little when I was a kid, but mostly all in good fun.
There isn't a short joke I don't know...or don't use about myself!
When I very occasionally encounter rudeness about my size, my response is always, "AW! You're jealous! Poor thing. It's OK, I understand." And I smile.
Works every time. No one expects the short girl...he he he he he
I imagine that's true...height restrictions for certain jobs. I have a problem with my neck and cannot tilt it back anymore...which means I have to be creative about looking up.
Pretty rough when you're shorter than most 12 year olds. lol...
My daughter has a stepstool to get into her bed in college. She also has about an inch on me.

CoralLevang wrote on October 14, 2015, 12:25 AM

inertia4 It is not that I do NOT like you short folks. It's that it would be nice more often to look up . emoticon :winking: My ex-hubby is 5'7" my first ex-hub was an inch shorter than me.

CoralLevang wrote on October 14, 2015, 12:29 AM

Being tall and big-boned with big feet has it's challenges as a woman, too, especially those of us born in the 1950s.
I wear a size 11.5 N or 12 N shoe. *rolls my eyes*
And I could tell you stories about being someone, who when thin, weighs 170#. I still wear a size 14. I wrote something about an online dating ad one time with what a guy was looking for...I'll have to see if I can find it. Cracked me up.

CoralLevang wrote on October 14, 2015, 12:31 AM

Ooooh...you are a tall one. emoticon  And I used to be 140-half inches, but I think I am 138 half-inches now.

CoralLevang wrote on October 14, 2015, 12:34 AM

I was 5'10" but am just a little bit more than 5'9" now. I always wanted to be 6' tall, cuz I never could find heels in my shoe size 11.5 N.
Now, I can find them up to size 14 and 15 W shoes...with 8" heels. All the drag queens get those. ROFLMAO They can walk in that crap. I just go barefoot now or wear flipflops most days. Except when I work. For me to find shoes that are good and fit me....I need to spend $200. emoticon

inertia4 wrote on October 14, 2015, 11:53 AM

Okay I hear that. Well, that leaves me out. LOL. Just kidding.

MegL wrote on October 25, 2015, 4:27 PM

I am 5' 4". I could swear I used to be 5'4.5" but the last time I got measured they definitely said it was 5'4" and only just!
