Are You a List Maker?

Some people are, by nature, very organized. Others are bigger picture, seeing the whole rather than the details. Both types of people get things done, though they may approach the tasks differently. At some point, things may fall through the cracks and not get accomplished, so lists are constructed. Some put so many things on their lists that they cannot begin to get through it all, and feel as if they fail. Others make lists, adding the never-ending items as a running total. Then there are the lists that get forgotten on the counter on the way out the door. How do you approach lists and getting things down throughout your day?

I make a list and check it twice.

Yes, I always make lists, especially when grocery shopping, otherwise I will forget something.

I hope you will place your vote, as well. It's nice to see it from a chart perspective. It appears that it took awhile before the vote registered. It's those darned hanging chads again. emoticon :winking:

I often write a "to do" list, but not every day. Checking it off lets me know what I've gotten done and kind of given me a sense of satisfaction seeing the things that I've completed. :)

CoralLevang wrote on September 3, 2015, 11:28 AM

That is a good strategy for many people. Thank you.

I love making lists. Some what obsessed with making them. lol Though I made need to make a list on getting more organized with list making. :)

I don't make lists but I use a very large calendar, A3 size with a large space for each day, where I can put down what I need to do and reminders, eg for bills, school holidays, travel, etc.

*laughs* That's like me wanting to hire a housekeeper, but I have to clean house before she would get here, so I save the money, and don't clean. emoticon :winking:

CoralLevang wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:06 PM

Old school, eh? I do that with my cell phone/calendar, but don't pay attention much to it.

BarbRad wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:14 PM

I make grocery lists and to-do lists, but not regularly. Sometimes I forget to look at my lists. Sometimes I even lose them.

deafdiva wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:29 PM

I just basically make lists when I go grocery shopping!

LoudMan wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:38 PM

I demand a recount! LOL!

LoudMan wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:39 PM

Besides my grocery list and my s**t list, I'm just too lazy to use them. Perhaps I should do something about this.

Recount, and I will still win. emoticon :winking:

CoralLevang wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:56 PM

You sound like me, BarbRad . emoticon  What do they say about "good intentions"?? LOL

CoralLevang wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:58 PM

The only list I carry nowadays, and the list is small enough that I don't have to write it down, is those ON my sh** list. emoticon :winking:

CoralLevang wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:58 PM

That is usually mine, as well. And then I leave it at home. LOL

LoudMan wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:59 PM

Mine grows butevery now and then, I scratch one or two off.

Saramarie wrote on September 3, 2015, 2:05 PM

lol true. I guess I just need to get more organized in general. :)

CoralLevang wrote on September 3, 2015, 2:31 PM

You probably already are, but may hold yourself to perfectionism standards. emoticon :winking:

CoralLevang wrote on September 3, 2015, 2:31 PM

*laughs* "...I scratch one or two off." Almost sounds like a hit list. ROFL

LoudMan wrote on September 3, 2015, 3:14 PM

It's complicated. Very, very complicated. Ain't life always?

valmnz wrote on September 3, 2015, 6:12 PM

Wt some of the more miner things need to do would remain undone. I usually make a list for each day, forget about it, go about my day, then come back to check what I've missed.

inertia4 wrote on September 3, 2015, 6:56 PM

Lists, really? No way. Not for me. And besides, if I need to keep track of things I can use my iPhone to do that and remind me to do it. I am not a list maker, never was. I have learned that nothing works out as planed on any list. So, I wing it. I find that to be better for me.

Paulie wrote on September 4, 2015, 2:09 AM

Whenever I make a list, I prioritize things to do. I make a list only when I have important things to do and don't want to forget.

CoralLevang wrote on September 4, 2015, 5:13 AM

Never truer words.

CoralLevang wrote on September 4, 2015, 5:13 AM

I've done that as well.

CoralLevang wrote on September 4, 2015, 5:15 AM

iPhone reminders are new school. Still "lists" with a flair. And I understand winging it. That's when I usually forget. LOL But I'm at an advanced age nowadays.

CoralLevang wrote on September 4, 2015, 5:15 AM

Sounds like a good plan. emoticon

Feisty56 wrote on September 4, 2015, 11:37 AM

I make actual lists for important events, like my daughter's upcoming wedding, otherwise I have a small notebook that I keep beside my computer to jot down ideas, appointments, things I want to remember. I know I could do most of this on my smartphone, but that doesn't appeal to the "old school" me.

CoralLevang wrote on September 4, 2015, 12:10 PM

The only thing I use is the calendar (google) that is on my phone/computer. I have found that to be a very helpful feature. I don't even know how to easily get to the notes section on this smart phone. LOL

Gina145 wrote on September 4, 2015, 12:13 PM

Every now and then I will try to make lists but I usually don't stick to them.

CoralLevang wrote on September 4, 2015, 1:17 PM

You just described my life, Gina145 emoticon

DWDavisRSL wrote on September 4, 2015, 8:11 PM

I don't make lists but K makes lists for me and sometimes I even follow them.

Dawnwriter wrote on September 5, 2015, 3:56 PM

Voted: I regularly use a list as a guideline only. I make lists for things that need to be done around house, buying grocery and if kids have too many activities that need careful pick and drop services. I would not be able to get things done that I do without lists.

CoralLevang wrote on September 5, 2015, 4:03 PM

*laughs* She sounds like she keeps you on track.

CoralLevang wrote on September 5, 2015, 4:04 PM

Dawnwriter I think that most of us fall into the guideline category.

DWDavisRSL wrote on September 5, 2015, 6:50 PM

I'd would be completely lost without her.
