What Time of Day or Night Are You Most Active on Pinterest?

I've been reading a few pointers about the best times to post on various social media sites. I wonder when my own friends pin on Pinterest. The tips say that you shouldn't post between five and seven PM because that's when no one is there to see your pins. Then it's implied that people don't pin during working hours. Supposedly people are most likely to be active on Pinterest after the day's work is done, maybe from about 7-10 PM. Then later at night, supposedly, Pinterest is deserted again, since people then go to bed. I must be an exception to this rule, because I like to go there to relax after I'm too tired to be productive writing anymore. I can be found there in the after midnight hours. What about you? What is your normal pinning time if you have one? I hope you will elaborate in the comments, and also use the comments to specify your time zone.

I'm afraid when you live in the southern hemisphere as i do you just do it, regardless of time and hope that when the rest of you wake we'll get noticed. I only put selected posts on Pinterest these days.

I am there only once in a while.Only started recently and I am yet to post anything there.I have voted between 10 pm and 12 pm.The time is that of my region.

I have voted that I do not use Pinterest. That's not quite true, I have an account there but all my pins are of stuff I have found, not MY stuff. I mostly only go on there when an email from Pinterest talks about pins related to the boards I already have, so I go on there when an email arrives which could be all different times. Just a thought, maybe if I started a writing board, or a PP board maybe I would get notifications from here or from people on here in my Pinterest email? What would be the best thing to call it, I wonder. Am just wondering now whether there are any writers' boards on Pinterest. Something to look up and ponder on, because if I create a board for that and pin some stuff, then Pinterest will send me reminders every so often and also notify others of what I have on my board!

I go in spurts. Some days I ignore it. Other days I get on and can't stop. It'supposed to be much more effective than Twitter at driving traffic to sites.

BarbRad wrote on April 16, 2015, 2:24 AM

I seems to me if people post from all over the world there should always be people pinning. One good way to start is to make secret boards you can pin things on until you have ten pins posted. Then make the board public. Start with broad subjects you are interested in. If your boards get too full you can break them into more specialized boards. I just did that with a couple of mine. You should have at least ten boards to start attracting followers. Many Persona Paper people have boards for their favorite Persona Paper posts. Maybe I'll do a post on how to start using Pinterest more effectively.

If you are pinning stuff you have found you are pinning and active. You don't have to post anything of your own -- unless you are hoping to get traffic to it. I put a lot of my social media how-tos and tips on my Social Media and Marketing board, for example, and gardening ideas on my gardening board. It's a great way to bookmark things you want to come back to. WE could actually help Persona Paper traffic a lot if we would all start pinning our favorite posts here onto either a special Persona Paper board or a board about the post subject. I have a Writing and Blogging board where I put my writing and blogging tips I come across. Other boards are about domestic animals, wildlife, books, education, whatever, so I put posts on those subjects on the boards where people are most likely to be interested in them.

Think I might have to consider what board name and theme would best suit this area.......

Sorry, I can't be of any help. I'm not familiar with Pinterest, although I have heard of it before.

CoralLevang wrote on April 16, 2015, 10:29 AM

I do not do anything "usually." But I do it for my pleasure. I never saw it (until now) as a social networking/media site. LOL

BarbRad wrote on April 16, 2015, 12:31 PM

MaeLou elitecodex Did I miss some documentation somewhere that says hyphens and apostrophes won't show up in answers in polls? Had I known, I would have spelled out to instead of using a hyphen for answers, as in "8 to 10 AM" instead of '8 - 10 AM." Now the answers are unclear. I have no way to fix it now.

BarbRad wrote on April 16, 2015, 12:32 PM

That's OK. Thanks for coming by anyway.

BarbRad wrote on April 16, 2015, 12:33 PM

That's why i have the comments. I do the same thing, starting and ending much later.

BarbRad wrote on April 16, 2015, 12:34 PM

Oh, it is. People can like and comment as well as pin. It's also a great visual filing system.

cmoneyspinner wrote on April 16, 2015, 1:16 PM

My Pinterest activity is spontaneous or sporadic. Not sure how to describe it. I get eMails. Sometimes I just login. If something catches my eye, I start scrolling down the page or click on similar pins from the same site or … just whatever! I just like pinning!

Kasman wrote on April 16, 2015, 5:02 PM

I don't think it matters too much when we are active. There are many people in many different time zones who are active online at different times. It's largely the luck of the draw.

CalmGemini wrote on April 17, 2015, 1:52 AM

Thank you.Yes,please post on how to start using Pinterest more effectively. As it is, I am clueless.

bleekley wrote on April 17, 2015, 7:51 AM

That is, I don't use Pinterest very often. I don't spend any time on it but do sometimes pin a HubPages article by a hubbber I follow or by me.

MaeLou wrote on April 17, 2015, 9:38 AM

Yes, a few months back it was noted that special characters do not work in polls currently. It's a fix we need to take care of but we're trying to do more pressing things right now.

BarbRad wrote on April 17, 2015, 3:56 PM

Are there certain times of day or night when you are more likely to have the time to pin? Or times you would not be free to pin?

BarbRad wrote on April 17, 2015, 3:58 PM

That's been my opinion, too.

BarbRad wrote on April 17, 2015, 4:00 PM

That's how I used to use it. But I've become convinced I've been underutilizing it.

cmoneyspinner wrote on April 17, 2015, 5:09 PM

Most of the time, it's in the morning when I'm checking my Inbox and might see a notice about repins or somebody following one of my boards. I mozy on over and next thing I'm stuck there. Oh! I like that one! Oh! That looks interesting! Oooh cool! Great recipe! ... I get out of control and then I have to rein myself in and go work on some of my other home biz projects. :)
