The real debate
Seeing as it is a day for participating in not so serious polls such as the great egg debate ison1 started, I thought I should start my own not so serious poll. What is the correct way to place your toilet paper on the toilet roll holder? As this is a heated topic in so many households and often the cause of relationship breakdowns, I want to see a good clean debate with name calling and Tepee attacks kept to a minimum. If you simply can't resist coating someone's profile with rolls of the soft white stuff then be aware we will expect you to help clean up the mess :D
The End should always be placed under the roll
pfft over is the only way to go
on the shelf, there is a cardboard tube occupying the holder. it looks dangerous and shouldnt be disturbed
newspaper wont fit on that tiny little thing, so a pile in the corner suits me
I refuse to comply with your poxy loo roll laws. It will sit wherever it lands.
Im a tradisionalist a bush and some leaves are all I need.

Definitely under the roll and it must always be white, no coloured paper is allowed in our house

Yay you're a purist like myself.

In the spirit of this not-so-serious poll, I'm going to share an idea that I use when I lightheartedly want to ruffle someone's feathers: When you use the facilities at a friend or family member's home, reverse which ever way they've placed the toilet tissue on the holder. : ) You'll get a little chuckle from the response.

teehee I'm glad I'm not the only one wicked enough to get a kick out of this. although I did learn pretty quickly not to do this to someone who suffers from OCD. Big mistake!

Hahaha, It's good to see someone else unafraid to tackle the big questions. Now I can't get Beavis and Butthead out of my head! "Hehe hehe I need TP for my bum holio"

What I thought was a little family joke between my Mom and I came down to a serious conversation one day about how I was not to tamper with the toilet roll again. Obsessive-compulsive folks tend to take the fun right out of it. I'm a "good girl" at Mom's house now.

I chose under, but not for any aesthetic appearance thing. We have two cats, when it is under they tend to leave it alone and when it is over they take that as an invitation to try to unroll the whole thing.

I've heard people argue heatedly over this one. I really don't care either way. it's not as if either way requires a Herculean effort to get at the paper.

I have a sponge on the end of a long stick, I then use the same sponge to clean my back when having a bath.

This poll cracked me up. I was trying to think about how I put my TP on the roll when I remember that the apartment we've been living in for 2 years doesn't even have a holder for the most important of bathroom necessities.

Aha! I'm glad I read this. We usually go 'over' and end up with cat induced unrolling phenomenon. So it's 'under' from now on for me.

You have been hiding in the cupboard again haven't you? Listening to me and hubby arguing about this very subject lol. He's and under and I'm an over so the loo roll here tends to be more mobile than most as we constantly change its direction according to personal preference

No coloured stuff in our house either!
phoenixmaid wrote on January 7, 2015, 5:15 AM
Oh it's nice to know there are so many of us out there
phoenixmaid wrote on January 7, 2015, 5:16 AM
Lol how did i forget about bevis and buthead?
phoenixmaid wrote on January 7, 2015, 5:17 AM
Lol the arguments have never been an issue in our house either. but it must bother people because the roll is switched about every time someone uses it
phoenixmaid wrote on January 7, 2015, 5:18 AM
I think the cats are just object to it being the wrong way around lol. they know how o train us :D
phoenixmaid wrote on January 7, 2015, 5:19 AM
lol I lost my coffee laughing at this.

Haha...I make that comment a lot about the pets, that they train us humans well!

Aw, your poll doesn't have a proper choice for me.
I get teased by my family because the toilet tissue and paper towel rolls are positioned according to where they are situated... like, whether a jacket might catch on a roll going over in one bathroom. In another the tissue is more awkward to reach when under. When we have a new kitten all roll ends are of course, under - until the kittens lose interest. Then it again goes back to which positioning is most sensible-in-the-circumstances. And my rules must be adhered to. Am I displaying bipolar OCD?

I put it under, my husband puts it over. There is an argument for either way - it looks neater whent he end is closer to the wall but you can't grab it as easily as you can in the over position. Hotels tend to the over argument with a pointy end on the first sheet too. We use white because it's cheaper but I don't know what color we would use as our bathroom has no theme to it.
