Are you scared to fly?

I am flying to the UK next year; many people I know think I am crazy to get on a place because of the ISIS threat. However I truly believe that flying is probably one of the safest forms of travel at the moment as the security is heightened - I'd be more concerned if I was going on a train or a bus journey. I also will not let any terrorist change my daily life even if I am scared - the minute they start changing my life, the minute they start winning the battle and drive fear into our lives. Are you scared to fly?

Don't worry about flying...it's the landing you need to worry about...lol

I have been on many airplane and even helo's while in the Marines and since and never worried about it. Even once when one of the engines went out on a C130. the thing still flew without any issues.

It's very safe indeed, but so expensive! I fly only rarely. I like to drive, even though that's really dangerous. I'm livin' on the edge!

The ISIS thing doesn't affect my feelings about flying that much - I remember hearing about hijackings way back in the 1970's. For me, it's more about how the experience has changed - it's not fear so much as it's dread, because it's gotten to be such a chore. Smaller seats, less leg room, dealing with TSA, and for some reason, I almost always end up sitting next to some obnoxious drunk guy (and no, that's not a reference to any of my travelling companions, lol.)

It's not the flying itself that scares me. it's the process of getting through security that has turned me off of flying. There's nowhere I want to go badly enough to face the TSA searches. I'm content to stay home and hang out around wine country and the beaches that other people come here to see. I used to fly and enjoyed it back then, but I no longer want to cram myself into a row of seats like a sardine and I can't afford first class.

That's exactly why I don't fly anymore.

Flying is fine. It is getting on board and the landing that poses the most potential threat in my opinion.

I don't mind flying. I have flown from the US to Europe several times. and we are planning a trip to Thailand early next year. Flying has become more complicated in recent years, with all the security checks, and also more expensive, but I love to see the world so I'll put up with it.

Flying doesn't worry me. In fact, earlier this year I took a one-day course learning to fly a glider! :)

I am not scared to fly. I am just worried about terrorist attacks happening.
