IT IS AS CLOSE TO A CONVERTIBLE AS I WILL GET! LOL
Just some background to let you know what this is all about. I have peripheral artery disease also known as PAD. Around 15 years ago I had 2 stents put in my left leg and things were okay for awhile. About 2 years ago I couldn’t walk 5 blocks without my legs locking up in pain and I had to wait a bit before I could start walking again.
This past December I had problems with my right leg and I saw 3 different vascular surgeon who had 3 different diagnosis. Basically PAD means plaque has built around your veins hindering the flow of blood and it turned out both legs were blocked. Went to the hospital and once again they put stents in the left leg and, for whatever reasons, they didn’t do the right leg. Long story short--now I am lucky if I can walk one block without pain.
From 1973 until January 21, 2004, I had a red classic Caprice Chevy convertible which I babied by having a new paint job and new seats every 3-4 years. I had to declare bankruptcy and though you may not be aware of it bankruptcy can and does affect your insurance rates and mine went sky high plus at that time gas started its rise in prices. Living on Social Security I had no choice but to give the car up.
Now here I am in 2014 unable to walk too far, no car, public transportation out of the range of my ability to walk, what to do? Another blogger suggested I call Medicare and see about a scooter, which I did and was told my primary doctor would have to make the request which he did. A week later I was ‘measured’ and a week after I had my new scooter and it was red.
Watch out world! I am my way in my new scooter which goes 4 MPH!!!
