I'm Somewhat Alarmed
Persona Paper obviously needs to find sources of ad revenue and the more lucrative the better. I think we do need to be very careful about which ones are allowed, though. I've been constantly pestered this morning by one that goes far beyond advertising and is in effect a browser hijacker - malicious software, in other words. Very often, when I try to click on a link, I'm redirected instead to a page splashed with Internet Explorer logos that tells me I need to update my media player.
Well, I don't need to update my media player. That's done automatically for me, by Windows Update. Even if I did need to update it I certainly wouldn't do so from a site with an anonymous URL that's fraudulently using the IE logo to make itself look legitimate. Please let's be selective, stick to reputable advertisers and get these scammers thrown out. As far as I'm concerned anything that tries to take control of your browser is not legitimate software and its creators should be in jail. Or a scorpion pit.
