Flash flood alert? really?

Okay, so I live in the desert, so I can kind of understand the crazy warnings even though there were only like eight clouds in the sky all day. So, we're watching this show that we had on the dvr from yesterday and at the bottom of the screen was a flash flood alert like every five seconds. Yesterday, it was sunny for half the day, then like eight clouds swept in and it got windy. The media started freaking out, acting like everyone was going to die, and it didn't even rain. Not to mention, this show has been interrupted for no good reason now.

There have been a couple of random sprinkles throughout the valley over the last couple of days. Maybe because it's monsoon season they have to act like every cloud is going to rain down cows and chickens or something. I know flash floods are a real thing, even here in the desert, but it normally has to be raining for at least eight hours (Vegas sized rain drops) for there to be any flooding. I'm just saying the alerts were completely unnecessary. Any way, I hope it really does rain tomorrow, our lake is becoming dry. :)
