Introduction for Scorpie

Please join PersonaPaper by clicking here.

I was born into a family of hard-working people who operated a full-service gas station and repair shop. As I was growing up and was required to work in the repair shop and I was not too pleased about it. Of course years later I came to appreciate my upbringing and the rewards that being accustomed to hard work provided me. I have my own car dealership now and still love my work. I am happily married, live in New England and my interests include camping, shooting, riding motorcycles, landscaping and enjoying my pool in the summer. These days I'm just a throwback of times long gone with ideals no longer cherished and virtues no longer held dear. As for food, I enjoy anything that is meat and is cooked on a wood fire. I cook on the grill all year long and rarely eat at restaurants. My wife and I spend a good amount of time at the local gym working off all the good food we love so much. I have a lot of experience with computers and Internet as I have been online since before the days of the World Wide Web.

I remember the Modem and BBS days with a peculiar fondness. I still play online DOOM with ZDaemon.

Hi, Scorpie! Ahhh the good old days of big floppy disks and such, before the world wide web opened up and surfaced across the computer screens in our homes! Of course, everything is much more convenient and accessible than back then, but the memories are funny when I think back on technology back when I was younger. If the kids now a days only knew how it was. LOL.. They wouldn't be able to survive without the ease that they have now at their fingertips. Happy to meet you! :)

what draws me to you is that you were born into a family of "hard working" people. I know you'll be writing some interesting stuff I'd like to read. And you remember the days of the modem; yep. I can relate.

scorpie Welcome to the community....I hope you are not using a dial-up connection to access internet emoticon  . I still remember the modem connection sequence sound. In any event, I wish you success and hope to see a lot of your articles

Scorpie wrote on August 2, 2014, 6:18 AM

nbaquero thank you. We have moved into the modern era with DSL. :p Although my 486DX2 computer is pretty slow. :)

nbaquero wrote on August 2, 2014, 7:23 AM

Ha Ha... I bet it is kind of slow... do you still have floppy disks around?

Scorpie wrote on August 2, 2014, 7:53 AM

Yeah, we got discs, zip drives, jazz drives, verbatim tape backup, all junk now. Hoarders?

Scorpie wrote on August 2, 2014, 10:12 AM

bridgetidelaney wrote on August 2, 2014, 12:46 PM

Ah, the lovely sound of a dial up modem! When I was in fifth grade, my teacher had Prodigy. I remember how cool we thought it was that we could play Memory with somebody across the states.

Scorpie wrote on August 2, 2014, 12:54 PM

Compuserve, Prodigy, Netcom, all gone. :(

Good day Scorpie! I am a new member also of Persona Paper
I really love to experience some of your interests especially camping and shooting...

tinamarie wrote on August 12, 2014, 4:27 PM

Hi Scorpie I'm also a fellow New Englander. My husband and I cook on our grill all year too! People drive by and see him out on the deck in his parka during a snow storm grilling. :) You will always find me in my kitchen as well cooking up something. Football season is coming and the food will be plenty. I think my husband and I will need to be hitting that treadmill!

Scorpie wrote on August 12, 2014, 4:40 PM

tinamarie Yes, I beat you to the gym. I'm already working off the anticipated pounds. Bison burgers and corn on the cob cooked on the grill tonight. Have you ever tried cooking corn on the grill with the husk on?

tinamarie wrote on August 13, 2014, 11:24 AM

Yes, we always cook our corn on the grill in the husks. We soak them first in garlic and a little salt water.. you should give it a try, then put butter and Parmesan cheese on them. Bison burgers are fantastic! :)

Scorpie wrote on August 13, 2014, 1:11 PM

Hungry now!

tinamarie wrote on August 13, 2014, 1:45 PM

Me too! Off to write up a recipe so I will stay out of the kitchen. :)'

Nice Intro! What type of shooting? I normally go for distance using WWII weapons, presents a nice challenge
