What a day! Dryers and Shingles
Yesterday was quite a day. My friend and ex, Brian, stopped over to do his laundry since he doesn't have a washer and dryer. He had been having a rash for almost a week, but it wasn't getting any better, so I asked if I could take a look. Like his girlfriend said, it looked like shingles . Since I had clothes in the washer and dryer that I forgot about, he left his clothes and I told him I'd do them, bring them to him and then take him to the Emergency Room to have a doctor look at the rash. Being a man, he didn't want to go to the ER but he said he's go if I went with. Ugh!
I went downstairs to get my clothes out of the dryer and transfer the other clothes to the dryer. I reached in and the clothes were still damp. So I tried to clean out the lint trap and there wasn't much in there. I reran it on the timer instead of the setting to shut off when they are dry. In the past, my mom had had problems with the heat bar going out on a dryer so I thought maybe that was it.
I went back downstairs 45 minutes later and they were still damp, but hot and humid. I went outside to check the vent but from what I could reach, nothing was in there. A few years ago, Brian had to pull the dryer out and we cleaned the back and the hose that went outside and after that it worked better. So Brian is coming over Saturday to see if that is it. If not, I'll be looking for a dryer. Grrrr!
So we went to the ER and sure enough, Brian had shingles . The pictures I posted show it. He said it burned and was painful. The doctor gave him a prescription for an antibiotic and Vicodin (which I swear they give out for anything) He said today it was about the samebut I imagine it will take 24 hours for it to kick in.
What a fun day!
