Anyone Else Have difficulty with Categories?

Problem - selecting a category

I haven't seen this posted anywhere, nor could I find anything in the FAQs but sometimes, I have difficulty being able to select a category for my post, if the category is below the cut off line. If the category I want is "writing" or "tutorials", in fact anything below "parenting", I cannot get hold of the danged category without lassoing it and holding it down til I am fit to be tied!

I think this happens only in certain situations. For instance, I had no difficulty selecting the category for THIS article (and by the way, I am living dangerously because I am typing this directly into PP, instead of writing it in Word and then copying across) but there was nothing in the text box when I selected the category. However, if I write an article outside of PP, I usually paste it straight into the text box and THEN start adding "Title", "image", etc. When I get down to "category", the selection box slides up all the time and it is extremely difficult to choose the category.

Anyone Else

Has anyone else seen this? have you any comments please?

I haven't seen this. And when I read a post I never ever look at the category. :D

Ellis wrote on July 29, 2014, 6:14 PM solution is to click first on humour and then humour goes to the top when you open it up a second time...

The categories should have its own scroll box.

It does. But following on from the loss of an article earlier, I now write offline and paste the article into the text box. EVERYTHING is in that paste, including the heading and graphic URL (which I then cut and paste into the correct boxes) but when I come down to the "category" the slider does not want to move down. Try pasting text into the article text box BEFORE selecting the category

Me neither, unless I find the article "odd", in which case I look to see whether it is in the "humor" category (I always want to write "humour"!

MegL wrote on July 30, 2014, 2:32 AM

Oh! I haven't found that. The list of categories is always in the same order for me.

Try adding your text to the text box BEFORE selecting the category.

When I first open the box 'humour' is the bottom topic....if I try to go down further than 'humour' the topics jump back up to the top before I get to click on anything...but by selecting 'humour' first and the box closes when I open the box again 'humour is then at the top and I can select from the topics below 'humour'

Yes, that is what I am finding. Do you paste your text into the article text box BEFORE you select your category?

Ellis wrote on July 30, 2014, 5:59 PM

Makes no difference either way I do it..

MegL - I have this problem too. I solve it the same way Ellis does.

Where I've experienced this problem the most is at Facebook when I'm trying to add a new person, page, or site to a category. I don't remember having any trouble with it here -- YET...

I don't have a problem selecting a category for my articles here. I always write my articles elsewhere so I just paste them on the text box here then add the title and the category. Sometimes, I add the title first then the category before pasting the contents of the article. Either way, I haven't encountered a problem with categories. Hope you get this resolved soon and that someone has the solution for you.
