Tell Me It Isn't So

Have you ever run across a "news"article with a title that you hope is satire? It happens to me all the time. This time it's an article from entitled Mississippi Police Want to Arrest the Satanists Who Turn Dead People Gay.

As always with outrageous articles, I set about tracking it back to its source. The first step was a Huffingtom Post article, which gave me hope that it really was satire. Then, in the article, Lucien Greaves, Officiant Of Satanic Temple's Anti-Westboro 'Pink Mass,' Charged With Desecration Of Grave , I saw another link, this time to a non-satire site, which turned out to be WTOK , a local news station in Meridian, Mississippi.

WTOK's article, MPD Expects to File Charges in Cemetery Trespassing states that the cemetary owners are, indeed, pressing trespassing charges on the group of Satanists who performed the "pink mass" which they claim turns the dead gay.

Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but I'm a professional skeptic

Wow. It scares me to know that there are people out there like this! And to think... they're probably raising kids :(

I guess they don't have any real crime in small-towns.

sconstantino But who are you scared of, the people performing the ritual or the people going nutso over it?

Loudman Apparently not.

Both, I guess. I am still skeptical that there are people trying to turn dead people gay. How does that even work? Are they just trying to make sure that all the zombies are not going to procreate? Lol people are so strange.

sconstantino It was more of a statement of irreverence on the part of these folks They admit to doing it to draw attention and to raise funds in a fight to have the right to be involved in an Adopt-A-Highway program in NY State.

sconstantino I think Loudman hit the nail on the head.
