A Like Button for Comments

I’m not sure if this has been mentioned or suggested already, but wanted to throw my two cents into the mix.

Sometimes, a person will comment on one of my posts and I like their comment and think it did add to the conversation we’ve been having, but I really don’t have anything else to add myself. I would love to be able to “like” their comment to show that I did agree with them or thought it was worthwhile.

I don’t think any money needs to be involved with the “like” comment button. I just think it would be a nice way to show that the author of the post did read the comment and gave it some thought.

I guess it just seems rude to me not to reply when someone talks to me, but I don’t always feel the need for another comment and this would be a way to reply and not be rude.

I hope this makes sense.I would love to know what elitecodex and MaeLou think.

You will need an account to comment - feel free to register or login.

I think that would be a great idea!

Guess we'll see what the bosses have to say about it. :)

There are those moments when we can add nothing to someone's words, aren't there?

Me too +1

paigea wrote on July 28, 2014, 2:22 PM

I'd like that as well. Exactly for the same reasons as you've said.

AngelSharum wrote on July 28, 2014, 2:23 PM

Well, you could always add another comment saying basically the same thing, but that's not good.

that would just be fine
a like button or an emoticon

Good idea...there is often times when there is nothing to add....seems only polite to respond though...

AngelSharum wrote on July 28, 2014, 3:41 PM

Yep. I'm not sure how hard it is to do the coding part to make it happen though. I know nothing about that side of things.

That is a great suggestion. Sometimes I just feel the need to 'like' the comment, but there is really nothing else to say.

I quite agree, Angel! I like to respond to comments left on my posts, so at least there I don't feel that the people who wrote them will feel neglected. But more often than not, if someone replies to a comment I left them, there isn't anything to add. It's then I miss the ability to like a comment most. I'd like to just send that friendly little nudge that lets the person know I saw, read, and took the time to acknowledge what they said :)

AngelSharum wrote on July 29, 2014, 11:55 PM

Yep. It would be more like a social network site then, at least like Facebook. :)

I did post and suggest the same idea last week. I have the same feeling where it is better to respond to comment even its only a like.

A smile icon would let the person know that you have read the post.

AngelSharum wrote on July 30, 2014, 12:57 PM

I missed your post. I'm not always on the site every day. Maybe they will implement the change one day.

I think that's a good idea. An 'I like this comment' or 'I agree with this comment' button or link can easily show what you think about a comment without having to reply to the comment when you really have nothing else to say except those phrases.
