Which Photo do You Like Best?

I caught this little bee eating lunch today. I spotted the flowers outside the kitchen window. They are in the empty lot beside our house. There is a rose bush there that has come back every year so far that we've been here, but this is the first time I've noticed this flower bush. I have no idea what kind of flower it is,but I have seen them before. I was happy to have caught the bee in the flower.

I got this shot with my macro lens. I'm going to get stung one of these days getting so close, but you gotta live dangerous for your craft right? :)

Anyway, which shot do y'all like best?

This one is with just edits for contrast and lighting, nothing else.

This one I sharpened and added a vignette to.

I like both of them. I just wondered what others thought.

Umm, well Mr. Bad Eyes here is wondering if there is a difference in what I am seeing. I'm thinking is a little clearer but with these eyes i'm not to sure. Maybe an eye exam is in order for me :)

I like that the details on the wings show better in the sharpened version too.

LOL, there isn't a lot of difference. The border has more color and the detail of everything is sharper.

Ellis wrote on July 24, 2014, 5:47 PM

The sharpened picture has more punch and the detail in the wing is clearer...

I agree. It wasn't a bad photo to begin with but I think it did need some sharpening. I know some photographers who say every photo does.

I'm also voting for picture . And bees are fascinating to watch. Did you know they can actually count to 5? True story.

Kasman wrote on July 24, 2014, 6:18 PM

The second one is better. The bee is sharper and stands out better.

AngelSharum wrote on July 24, 2014, 6:21 PM

I've never asked one to count...lol

AngelSharum wrote on July 24, 2014, 6:21 PM

Yep, it seems everyone is liking the sharper version of this one best.

Ellis wrote on July 24, 2014, 6:24 PM

But one has to remember that sharpening also makes noise stand out more...

Agree with everyone else here, picture is better. The details and color appear more vibrant AngelSharum .

AngelSharum wrote on July 24, 2014, 10:37 PM

Yep, that's why I try not to do too much of it if possible. Unless I'm going for that effect.

AngelSharum wrote on July 24, 2014, 10:38 PM

It is the clear winner of this set for sure. I thought it might be.

CharlotteRaynor wrote on July 24, 2014, 10:55 PM

Personally, I think they are both too close to really tell it is a bee. I like the one you posted on Facebook better. emoticon

It's the same photo, the uploader here just makes them a lot bigger.

I like the first one best. The most I do with my photos is exposure. I am not a fan of sharpening. BTW - very nice close up.

It took me a little while too! I was blown away... I don't think that I could ever take a shot to match those but after looking a little closer after reading the comments below, I have to agree with the second photo!

AngelSharum wrote on July 25, 2014, 4:59 PM

I know some people only like original shots, with very little tweaking. I like both shots.

AngelSharum wrote on July 25, 2014, 5:00 PM

You could do it. Having the right camera and lens helps a lot. I couldn't do it with my old camera either.

WordChazer wrote on July 25, 2014, 8:07 PM

The scond one is ever-so-slightly sharper, to my tired and heavy eyes... Do I sound like I'm in an optician's appointment for new glasses yet?

LeaPea2417 wrote on July 25, 2014, 8:09 PM

I like the second one better.

AngelSharum wrote on July 25, 2014, 8:35 PM

It does sound like it's about time. You are the second person to say they need glasses after looking at one of my photos. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

cruisincrazy wrote on July 26, 2014, 2:19 AM

I like the 2nd one much better.

WordChazer wrote on July 26, 2014, 7:13 AM

I already wear glasses! The tired and heavy feeling was due to the lateness of the hour and the fact that I'd had a long day prior to that, not to mention several glasses of wine.

SheenaDJ wrote on July 26, 2014, 12:40 PM

Same here. I like the sharpened photo, too. But anyway, I should say this a really good shot! Nice job.

I think I like the first photo. The flower has a pretty color.

I think I lik the one you sharpened up as the deatils are clearer
