Handmade Bohemian Hobo Bag Pattern

This is one of my favorite bags. I received it several years ago as a Christmas gift from my Aunt who got it from a girl at work who was making them and selling them to friends.

It's a twist on a hobo bag except that it's made from lightweight washable fabric. It looks like delicate silk but I believe it's some sort of polyester blend with raised velvet flowers.

What makes it so durable is that it's lined and that the bag handle is not a separate piece so I think it's what gives it strength. This particular design is less slouchy because the person who made it stitched it so that there's a rectangular bottom so it will sit flat on the floor.

I thought I'd post this picture because kdarrell is looking for handbag designs so I thought this might inspire her as a design to consider.

I saw this one design which has fancier sewing involved with stitching for a cellphone pocket. Click here .

Please let me know if you find a pattern. Or better yet, Kim, just make me one :D

I love making handbags. I am trying to perfect it to the point of people saying, there goes a 'gidget original'!
Lately, I have been making them out of shirts that I don't wear anymore and putting lining in them. Pretty cool!

I love soft hobo handbags and the way they feel when I sling them over my shoulder. I'm short and I don't like the way many handbags with long straps look on me. I always fee like a little girl with my Mother's pure. I'm sure Kdarrel will like this one.
