Create Your Website or Blog: Find Your Niche

As I'm currently working on my own websites I would like to share my experience about the necessary steps you need to go through from setting up your website to monetizing it. Yes, I'm talking about earning income from your website or blog.

The first step for creating your website is finding your niche. Let me explain that further. Let's say you would like to create a website which is about health. Health is a broad market and very competitive. Of course, it would not make any sense to create a website which is mainly about health in general. So you have to narrow it down to a niche, a smaller market. Well, you could think of women's health which is a narrower market than the general health market but it is still too broad. Maybe you could find something like "Health tips for women during menopause" which is a smaller niche than women's health. Now you could go on like this and make that niche narrower and narrower. This is just an example.

To find a valuable niche you should do some extensive researches on the Internet using a keyword searching tool like Google's Keyword Planner. With the help of that you can find out, for example, how many people are searching certain keywords. I don't want to go into details because this would be too long and maybe boring.

Thank you for reading my post.

Yes, this is a good first step. It may also be useful to have several related small niches that you can write about

Thanks for this information. I am trying to do the same. I already have my domain name, just trying to think of content.

This is a good first step. Even with writing post, it is good to find a specific subject to write about. Thanks for the tip.

janetwrites True, aiming at a smaller portion of any given market will help you establish your expertise and credibility, so finding a niche is very important. Thanks for this introductory post to creating a website.
