Online Karaoke

Okay, I have an obsession, well, one obsession that I am mentioning in this article.

I like to sing to my computer! Well, to one website in particular: Singsnap

Don't try to find me because if you do I would be totally embarrassed!

I have been on the site since 2007. You can use a headset or not, some people have some fancy equipment.

You can favorite songs or users; you can even pick a sung and dub your music over theirs and call it a duet.

Sometimes you can have up to four people singing together!

Some people just turn down the music and play their own, guitar, drums, harmonicas, etc.

When I first joined the site, it was a couple of years after my son died and the singing helped me in the grieving process.

I wanted to share the links of a new singing friend, he's in his 70s and looks like a mountain man, but he's so funny!

I'm so sorry to hear about your son. I'm glad the site helped you after his death.

the site sounds like fun.

This actually sounds like a wonderful idea. So, I joined. I like your friend. He seems like a hoot.

Sorry for the loss of your son. :(

Checking more into this, I see why you enjoy it. Big fun.

I use to sing online way before singsnap. There was a site called mplayer that was really big for online Karaoke and this was in the late 1990's. It was a gaming site but they had an area to sing and it was really fun. I won my first trophy there. I went on to paltalk and then singsnap. I still miss mplayer singing! They closed down a long time ago.

Thank you very much. Music is very therapeutic, but I have always been a convulsive singer so it did help!

gidget wrote on July 15, 2014, 8:23 AM

It is! You should give it a try!

Thanks, I am really ok.
You joined? Is your id loudman?

gidget wrote on July 15, 2014, 8:25 AM

Did you sing a song yet? Oh you can also do video

gidget wrote on July 15, 2014, 8:25 AM

I like singsnap so much better, you can do duets and video.

I wish they had an app for android. They have one for iphone.

gidget wrote on July 15, 2014, 10:44 AM

Maybe they will soon. They are probably testing for IOS right now before they put it on the android market.

No, I haven't begun singing there, yet. First, I need to look into the local noise ordinances. Now, I'm curious - what are these other obsessions of which you speak? :)

LoudMan wrote on July 15, 2014, 7:57 PM

Yes. What is yours? So I can pick on you. haha.

LoudMan wrote on July 15, 2014, 7:57 PM

No video. I think it'd be painful enough for folks as it is. :)

gidget wrote on July 15, 2014, 8:24 PM

Local noise ordinances haha emoticon
Other obsessions, whatever do you mean? ;)

LoudMan wrote on July 15, 2014, 9:32 PM

Yes, noise ordinances. I usually sing tenor...ten or eleven notes, then the neighbors show up with torches and pitchforks.

Other obsessions? I've no idea. That's why I was asking. :D

gidget wrote on July 15, 2014, 9:37 PM

Haha. Another good thing about that site, if you have a premium membership, you can change the pitch of the song to more equal the key you might sing in.

I gotta admit, I'm getting a kick out of some of the performers there already. I know it's mean but, I love awkward humor. You know, those things you see so awful, you nearly feel embarrassed to be watching it? Yeah. I love that kind of stuff. can't help it.
