A chess match at the World Cup
After the festival of goals in the Brazil versus Germany match (Final score was 7 to 1) , it was expected the second semifinal of the World Cup between Argentina and The Netherlands would be a very cautious and defensive game, since both teams would try to avoid a new humiliation like the one Brazil suffered Tuesday.
But this was a different match, for many people it was the most boring match of the entire World Cup , but not for coaches and true soccer fans. Both the Dutch and the Argentines played a very tactical game with just a couple of scoring opportunities, one for Messi in the first half and the second for Robben at the end of regulation.
The defense at both sides was outstanding. For the Netherlands Ron Vlaar was the best man of the match, stopping many attacking opportunities, while in the Argentine side Garay and Mascherano were the two best players destroying the Dutch efforts.
The strikers ( Van Persie, Robben, Higuain and Lavezzi ) were well controlled and the ball ran mostly in the mid-field with exquisite passing and dribbling. The teams we also able to control Messi and Sneijder the creative brains on each team.
At the end the match was defined via penalty kicks, which is always a matter of luck, and any team could have won it. This time it was Messi and company the ones that got luck on their side. This is Argentina's first trip to the World Cup Final in 24 years.
Do you think Argentina deserved to advance to the World Cup Final?

Though I have not watched this particular match, I believe Argentina was lucky. If they want to beat Germany, that defense better be up!

PenFlavor it was a very close match, Argentina has a solid team and their defense has allowed only 3 goals so far, Germany has a great offensive line that is true, but I see the Final as a more balanced match than most of the people think.

Right now, I already know that Argentina reached the final and Holland is 3rd. I sincerely hope to see Argentina win.
