Garden State Soundtrack (or... the Best Mixtape Ever!)

I remember the reason why I watched Garden State is because it starred two of my favorite Hollywood stars. Zach Braff (a.k.a. JD from "Scrubs") and Natalie Portman (who everyone MUST know already). Besides that, I saw the plot and realized that it's one of those quirky, indie movies that I'm always dying to watch. I had low expectations too because I know that an indie movie is usually given a low budget.
But then everything quickly changed. A few minutes after the movie started, this song began playing, and I just knew I was in for a treat! A few more scenes later (and each new background song keeps getting better), I immediately went online and searched for the movie's official soundtrack. It was THAT good.
Apparently, Mr. Braff (who also wrote the screenplay for this wonderful movie) has handpicked each of the songs to be used when he was writing. And guess what? He actually won a Grammy for this!
Some of my favorite ones are " New Slang " by The Shins, " Such Great Heights " by Iron and Wine, and " Let Go " by Frou Frou.
I don't know about you, but if I were reading this and haven't heard of Garden State before, I'd probably be searching for the movie AND the compilation soundtrack. I have a feeling you will enjoy it as much as I did.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I know Iron & Wine is great. I have a few of their youtube videos on my favorites playlist.

Oh, they're awesome.
I'll recommend The Shins & Belle and Sebastian too. Those two are easy to listen to.
