YOUR Ideal Time - 10-15-30 - Between Posts?

YOUR Ideal Time - 10-15-30 - Between Posts?

Recently it was brought up that members would like a wait time in between being able to post here at Persona Paper. There was a poll about it, which I won’t share here because from that poll, we the members agreed, that a 30 minute wait time between being able to post was quite reasonable and fair for all members.

Many voted. Including me. For the 30. And Will ( ) being the wicked awesome coder that he is, made the changes for us.

I have since changed my mind.

Hey. It happens. I could plead that I’m a girl and it’s my right but I’m sort of over that. I’m human first. And truth be told, having had time to think on it, there are many reasons why I think a 30 minute wait time in between being able to post is too long.

Or at least having that SET IN STONE, anyway. Too rigid, Micro-managed. We need our FREEDOM. Yikes.

Another truth, at least for me, is that if I don’t have something already written and ready to go, it can take me much longer than 30 minutes in between posts. But THAT is NOT the point of THIS post.

Once the 30 was in place we FREAKED. Maybe it was just me. Maybe I didn’t exactly freak. But...

So Will posted another poll - How Long Should We Force...

If you wish to have your voice heard, hop on over there and “git ‘er dun”. Will and Heather ( ) are seriously dedicated to making this site truly about those who contribute with and for Persona Paper. They listen and consider our ideas carefully.

Hence the 30 thing.

Which I’ve since changed my mind about. I said.

Here’s why:

With so few members at the moment, no matter how long between posting, often you can be on the front page multiple times.

With so few members there is not enough to do in between posting to keep me here at Persona Paper for a full 30 minutes.

I like to read and comment in between posting and I do that naturally. Yesterday - testing the new 30 minute rule - I was a bit schizo, hopping on and off the computer for figuring out how to fill up those 30 minutes.

(The hubs was thrilled that last week’s laundry was finally put away. I told him not too get excited or to expect for that to become routine ;) and dishes were done and dinner was prepped and...pfft ;) )

While I DO NOT BELIEVE folks should be posting every 5 minutes -

WHOA - slow down, Cowboy. Can I tell ya something? When you post THAT fast , chances are I’m not reading everything you write. I’m not being a dink about it, that’s just the truth.

Variety is the spice of life, ya know!

So while I believe posting inconsiderately is just plain R U D E; having a timer on us is scary constricting too.

I know some are still for it and I’m not trying to convert you (is it working???? ;) ) but have a look at the bigger picture here:

Some folks can’t be here all day or all night long to post evenly throughout.
Some folks have an hour to stop by, post a couple, read a couple, and be on their way. With a timer in place, they are deterred from coming at all. Especially since you cannot even access posting again until that 30 minutes has expired.

AND RIGHT NOW WHAT PERSONA PAPER ...yikes, I was yelling, sorry...

...what Persona Paper needs most is visitors. Happy, healthy, writing, reading, friendly, VISITORS - MEMBERS!

Am I making sense here?

What if we, the MEMBERS, did Will and Heather a favor and agreed not to be crazy posters. An honor system of sorts.

Does 10 minutes between posts seem fair?

This would give you time to gather your thoughts from post to post, read some other fab stuff, and ready the next brilliance outta your head.

For me, even having the Google Series ready to go, it still takes a good 15 minutes - at least - in between, especially if I’m changing colors and making things “purty”.

My point there is, NO one should be serial posting. NO one should be made to wait.

We are all adults and we should be able to handle posting appropriately for the good of the community.

NOW - ONE LAST THING!

You will see multiple posts from the same folks on the front page in the short term.

WHY?

Because we are yet small in size. No matter how long a person waits in between posting, if he or she is one of few...well, it’s a math thing, right?

So WHAT TO DO about that?

Invite folks OVAH! I know, some folks are a bit leery right now about PP - exchange rate is low (learn the story before you whine about it, mm’kay), new site, not a lot of members...

Well geesh, people. Far as I know, Rome wasn’t built in just one day, either. And it takes a village. And...

Okay, I’m done for now. Go visit Will’s ( ) poll . Vote, comment if you have more to say.

What WE (the contributors) think MATTERS here at Persona Paper! How darn refreshing is THAT?

Cheers!

Ooops, two last things, I promise: Will and Heather are working very hard for us, as I said above, so if you haven’t realized, you might want to give ‘em a wee lil break ;)

and

For all the new folks joining us - WELCOME to Persona Paper!

So for you, faith - this isn't really an issue ;) Thank you for weighing in. It's good to hear from everyone, especially to know how and/or why you are here at Persona Paper :)

Have a great day :)

I think 10 mins at this point is not too restricting. But, at this point in time, I DO feel we need restrictions. They'll dissipate I'm sure but one thing that bothered me over at the "other" site was constant posters. They would just post every 2 mins and it was incredibly ridiculous! I DONT want to see that here.

We're in talks of an option that will help those that are not online - because, lets face it, even I'M not online all day either! But, I'm lucky to get a handful of posts in.

See, you're noodling because you let us have a voice. I LOVE IT HERE emoticon  No apologies for the yelling, lol. There are valid points all the way around MaeLou :)

I, for one, am glad you are back. I have missed you more than you know. In fact, based on dealing with my own health issues, I was afraid that something would happen and we would never have an opportunity to know (until much later) that things had changed. More importantly, I didn't want to find out through someone else what had happened.

Life is so tentative and what we come to know and love changes so rapidly. Never will I take the relationships in my life for granted. I may not have, nor always be able to take the time to say what I need to say, but my commitment is to do so far more often than I have in the past.

I love you, my friend.

dammit, CoralLevang - no tears today. emoticon
