You Don’t Bring Me Flowers...Anymore!

You Don't Bring Me Flowers...Anymore!

Which is fine, really. Flowers are beautiful and they smell great and they look lovely upon the table or dresser.

But flowers tend to die after a time.

A new wireless keyboard and mouse, on the other hand, will last quite a bit longer.

My hubs and I had words yesterday. Not the healthy, pleasant kind you hope for in relationships. No, these words were ugly and unkind.

It happens. If we weren’t so darn good at communicating, I’d worry about our state of affairs; but we’re fine, really.

And he doesn’t bring me flowers or any other sort of prezzies usually, when we have words. Heck, we rarely have ugly, unkind words - making making UP a non-issue.

But today he surprised me with “flowers”. He had to work today, early. And sometime mid-morning, we were texting while I sat in front of the box, trying once again to get my old keyboard to work. It has been giving me fusses for awhile now but I can usually do a bit of (some sort of magic) to get it to work for a time before it acts up again.

So, I mentioned that it was acting up. I hadn’t told him previously about it, as I don’t like to bug him about things like that. OR we’ve just been too busy and once I get it working again, the “pain in the butt broken issue” slips my mind.

ANYway, he goes on about his work day, I go on about mine. Then, this afternoon, he arrives home with the biggest and best “bouquet of roses” I’ve ever seen.

My new wireless keyboard and mouse from RadioShack.

All I got him was a clean fridge, emptied garbage, done dishes, and a made bed.

I think we are both happy, actually. Unexpected “flowers” are the very best kind - his and mine.

PS: I'll let you know how I like my new thingamajigs, once I get used to them. My old keyboard and mouse were pretty ancient (I love them still) and clunky. This new set is slim and sleek and...well...goodness...I have to say, so far...YUM. Shhhshhh, don't tell the old set. We don't want any hurt, um, feelings ;)

I'd love to get a wireless keyboard and mouse, you lucky girl! I agree, I'd rather have something practical than flowers which are going to die anyway. I say leave the flowers in the garden and get me something I actually need, lol.

I was thinking about it last night and realized, in 8 years, I have very little jewelry and other nonsensical items but lots of practical gifts from my love. MUCH more to my liking. He knows me :) And every now and then, something silly and sweet, just because ;)

PS: I am very lucky :)

Flowers, new keyboard and mouse, any gift for that matter....are all things I have to buy for myself. Anything I want and need, I have to buy for myself

Unexpected gifts, when I get them are usually via mail. And they have been the most precious to me because they are truly from the heart. And they are from those whom I would least expect them. ;)
