The Drama of Philippine Politics

I could not speak for the state of politics in other nations. But here in the Philippines, corruption is the cancer of the society. From the lowest level of the governing body up to the highest. The difference is that some do it shamelessly while others do it discretion.

I recently encounted someone working for a government agency. He spoke as if I owe him. When in fact, he extorted Php 500 from me just earlier this year. The problem with these types of people is that they don't realize that without the taxes that business owners pay, as well as those who are in the private sector, they will cease to exist. Now they will hold it against you if the favor they asked wasn't granted and then they will screw over your transactions with them such as delaying your permits or looking for a violation that is not really there.

I worked in a government office for five years, and believe me, corruptions is going on even with the lowest paying jobs in the government. Take our office for example, my co-employees would take home some pieces of bond paper, or folders or paper fasteners because their kids need it in school for some project. I mean, can't they buy their own supplies?! I've never done it myself because we own a Variety Store.
