Monophobia - The Fear of Being Alone
At this stage, most people my age belong to one of the categories below:
1. Engaged
2. Married
3. Pregnant
4. Have baby / babies
Of course, 5 would be single. But that's only a few of us. Normally, I am fine with being single. I am still enjoying my freedom. No one is there to restrict me. Not that a healthy relationship means someone should restrict you from doing what you like. However, there are times that I can't help but feel a sense of panic as I consider that I am still single at my age. Others would offer words of comfort that someone will eventually come; that I'll meet somebody. Maybe. Maybe not. We'll leave it to fate.

There are always a few people who are "still single" well after the time when most in their culture settle down. But I've known several people who were just not meant to settle down, or who have married later in life. Some, like my sister, did all the usual stuff - just a bit later than was expected in their community. Others, like my father-in-law, lived a very different domestic situation than most. I fugure we all end up where we should, eventually.
