It's a teeter-totter...or if you grew up in a different area, perhaps you would call it a seesaw, either way it's a piece of playground equipment that many of us are familiar with. That is what Bubblews and Personal Paper have reminded me of the last couple of days.
Last week Bubblews was balking. The 502 and 504 errors were frequent and the response time was slow Notifications were down because people were unable to use the site.
I came here to check things out at the recommendation of a friend that has written for both sites. Last week Persona Paper was the happening site. People were joining in droves, to the extent that Ashley had to draw a line and put a temporary halt to new members. Notifications were hopping as new articles were being submitted and members were reading and commenting.
A few days have passed and now the shoe seems to be on the other foot. For the first time in weeks Bubblews is buzzing with activity and it it actually possible to view, like and comment on multiple articles without meeting the error road-block. Members that had disappeared over the past month or so, returned. My views and likes have gone up significantly, as I am sure have others'. Now this site is languishing as the issue with Google adsense forced the exchange rate down and those who were here primarily for the money have jumped ship.
Bubblews was my first writing site, but I was there long enough to see a few cycles as the site has seen good days and bad.
I had not intended to sign up on Persona Paper when I first visited, but after exploring for a while I liked what I saw. Reading that registration was soon going to be shut down temporarily I decided to jump on while I had the chance.
The last few days have been slow here, but this site has tremendous potential. In addition to that Ashley has been very upfront about problems, plans and circumstances that he cannot control. I am not a hard core writer. I may never submit more then just one or two articles a day here, but I am here and I plan to stick it out.
The teeter-totter will probably continue to tilt one way or the other. I'm going to relax and just try to enjoy the ride.
