World Cup Officiating Problems

Just about every sports fan is aware that the World Cup is going on right now. Here in the US soccer doesn’t have the massive following that it may in other countries so the media attention might be sparse right now, at least until Team USA takes the field.

I don’t plan on watching any of the games but I have read about something that concerns me a bit, the officiating.

Sports rely heavily on the unbiased calls from their referees/umpires so I’m always a bit troubled when I hear about problems because it brings the integrity of the competition into question. The lack of integrity is what pushed me away from NBA basketball many years ago.

I hope that these early problems are just minor blips on the radar and the rest of the matches go off without a hitch, too many fans around the world are watching and they deserve fair play.

I do not really follow the World Cup. I am not a big fan of soccer/football. My favorite sport to watch is Auto Racing (NASCAR).

There are always differences of opinion, and referees have to maintain the highest level of integrity, like judges.
