My Portrait of Taz: Developing the Background

You might remember that last time, I wrote about finally getting past the massive artist's block that was holding me back by using the "just do it!" method. It worked! I was able to return to the painting and start developing the background by laying in the base colors.

After that was done, it was time to start developing shapes, fine-tuning colors, establishing lights and darks to show form, and even adding some detail to the more finished areas. Along the way, I was adding some paint to Taz when I had extra. This helped me see the picture as a whole and also gave me a head start on getting some of Taz's markings and features established.

It's certainly coming on now. My granddaughter had some art lessons before Christmas and this was the technique she was taught.

You are making good progress on Taz. Just wondered if you would like to see some of my artwork.
