Tiny Terror And The Stomach Ache

No Longer Tiny

The tiny terror is now 8 years old and hates the name "tiny terror" because she is "big" now but she is still the same impulsive, "devil may care", "let's try it right now" wild child, who goes to skateboarding lessons, roller skates with no worries about bumps and scrapes (yes, she wears a helmet) and gives big, generous hugs.

Banana Health

She is home schooled and they learn mostly by projects. Today was archaeology, music and languages. Earlier in the week, they learned about different foods and they get cooking lessons, which include maths (measurement), biology, hygiene and nutrition information. One of the things she learned was that bananas are a healthy source of fibre, minerals, vitamins, and various other healthy substances.

Next Morning

The morning after the banana lesson, she woke with a stomach ache and was anchored to the toilet for most of the morning. She didn't look that sick, though she certainly couldn't stay far from the bathroom. But by the afternoon, she was back to her perky self.

She later told her mother she had eaten 5 bananas, one after the other. It seems that if one banana is good for you, the reasoning went that 5 bananas must be five times as good!

Hm. Bananas. I used to love those beyond belief! I'd eat a whole bunch of them in no time at all. They are rich in potassium. Now, as an adult, I am not partial to them. I've had my fill! I don't care for anything banana, though I will eat them if there's nothing else within reach.

I never had such topics in school as those! School seems out of touch with reality these days. Good ol' reading, writing, and 'rithmetic are apparently passe.

No, I never had those kinds of topics either in school, however, my father, who was a pharmacist, used to show me various experiments, such as growing crystals in waterglass, striking non safety matches on glass, etc. These were not projects but just interesting home experiments. As kids we had a lot of freedom and were able to explore woods, streams, climb trees, etc.

Sounds like you had a really neat childhood. I did ride my bicycle all over the place. And I did go fishing with a friend. No real home experiments. However, I used to watch the TV Show Watch Mr. Wizard.

Yes, I think I had a good childhood.
