Custom Wood Inlays

Custom wood inlays are used to make special patterns on pieces of wood, to make the piece unique. The process of inlaying is a very time consuming and difficult job which requires expert craftsmen to do it. Custom inlays can be used to make different pieces and styles of furniture look as if they are all part of one matched set, for instance, bone or shell inlays can be fitted to furniture to make a pattern that can be repeated on other pieces of furniture, which often become heirlooms.

The process will require a high degree of skill and patience and should only be done by a skilled craftsman. Even the smallest mistakes can result in a faulty product, which will have to be replaced. The process is time consuming, but the results are worth the effort. By using a quality product and using the correct procedures and equipment, the finished product is a beautiful piece of furniture that will provide years of enjoyment for generations to come.

It is possible to talk to an inlay expert to have a design of your own choosing created and crafted.

Guitars

People buying hand crafted guitars often do this to make their guitar even more special than it was already. Guitars can have inlays on the headstock, the neck and fretboard, round the soundhole or anywhere on the body.

Kitchens

it is possible to have inlays fitted into kitchen and cabinet doors or into tables, for instance, to make your kitchen a unique place of beauty.

Boxes And Cabinets

Boxes of any size and wooden cabinets can be made even more beautiful by the addition of a custom inlay. I was at a yard sale the other week and picked up a small wooden shoe cleaning box with a metal inlay on it. It appeared to have been brought over from India and had a wooden shoe shape on top of the box for resting the foot on while the shoe was shone.

A guitar is fairly small and is not hidden when the musician plays it. That is, it is in the public eye. So it makes sense to do what can be done to beautify it.

Yes and some people like to do the same with tables or kitchen cabinets or small boxes.

I love these hand painted inlays. I particularly love colorful flowers on black enamel.
