Only 9 Cases in Nelson Co., VA: What Does This Mean?

The novel Coronavirus Covid-19 is in full swing. Yet in the county in which I live - Nelson County, Virginia - there have been very few cases to date. In fact, as of today, there are 9 ongoing cases, so far no death.

But what does this mean? Is this county to be spared much suffering with the end result being a mere handful of cases of the disease, total? Or does it mean something else?

Could it mean that we've just now begun down the path places like China, Italy, Spain, and the U.S. at large, traversed intially, with many, many cases to follow?

Will it all end up with this geography among the last hit, yet with a sizeable number dead?

Time will tell.

There are always places that don't feel the effects of a new virus. I lived in the valleys of Wales as a child and I don't remember any cases of flu in the village I lived in, even though there were reports of it in the nearby town. Our mother would not let us go into town while the virus was around.

I suspect the likelihood of expansive growth may be small at first and die out, unless there are enough cases to provide the spark, so to speak. Say 5 cases and it gradually dies out, but 12 cases and 1 or 2 sneak by to "sprout" anew. As it is, we are near at least one county that has many more cases. This county is largely a commute county to the other county(ies).
