Another New Blog!

Last week, I started another blog, called The View from Mount Helicon. As I explain in this post, "Welcome to Mount Helicon" , I needed a blog for my creative writing, in addition to the blogs I already have, which focus on art, reviews and other useful articles, and local interest in my hometown (links to those blogs appear in the article, if you are interested).

Persona Paper is a good place to publish my thoughts, and I have plenty of creative writing here, but I wanted a place that was dedicated to it. Hopefully, I will be able to draw on the Muses, who will remember that one of my favorite movies of all time is Xanadu and will gracefully bestow their creative energies on me!

Sounds like you'll have a good time. As to movies, I just watched a winner entitled: Hidden Figures (2016). Not about the 36-24-36 bit, it discusses black women in mathematics. It is quite entertaining!

Thanks. Watched the first few minutes, looks excellent.

It truly is. It illustrates the attitudes of the time. It also has its humorous moments. And it ends most happily for all. Fun stuff.

Gad to know it ends well.

It's based on the true story of black women who were mathematicians for NASA during the space program in the 60s. These women were instrumental to the success of the space program, but even though they were doing extremely important work and were highly educated and capable, they were still subject to the terrible racism common to the times.

Thanks!

There is still terrible racism around. And in some ways it appears to have increased but I think it has always been there but certain politicians have enabled it more recently, so it's becoming more overt.
