Media And Children

Lots Of Media
The amount of media available to everyone has increased exponentially over the last 50 or so years. From 1 hour of children's television available a day in the fifties and sixties and TV closing down at 8pm each evening, to 24 hour coverage on many channels, personal mobile phones, laptops, computers, tablets, consoles and probably more I have not mentioned.
Young Children
Babies and toddlers would not have watched any TV 70 years ago, there was nothing electronic produced for them. They were read to, sung to, or left to play with toys or taken for walks. These days, many children are placed in front of a TV screen before they can even sit up and child care facilities use TV for at least part of every day.
Effects?
Do we know what the effects of this are or will be? Is anyone researching it? Possibly not. That might cause people to use media less for their children and that would have economic consequences!

Now *this* is of more serious concern. Much more serious concern.

Oh yes. It's a very "handy" babysitter but what effect does it have?
