Kids On Tablets

Haircut

My husband went for a haircut today and the barber was talking about her son. She said he was a great boy, very quiet, you would hardly know he was there.

Not There?

That wasn't like any young boys I have known! You definitely would have known most of them were there. There were just a couple of young ones I knew who were shy as youngsters but they quickly grew out of it, especially around our house, they were not required to be quiet as mice.

"Shy, is he?" asked my husband.

Tablets

"Oh, it's not that," she said dismissively. Apparently, he stayed in his room playing on his Tablet all the time, only coming out to raid the fridge for food.

Appalled

My husband was appalled but managed to contain his shock until he got home.

* no fresh air

* no exercise

* constant eye strain

* no regular meals

* no social interaction

And that is just for starters. The Tablet was a babysitter, taking the place of human interaction. I don't know whether he was playing games or whether it was a phone type piece of equipment but my belief is that the amount of screen time needs to be strictly regulated.

"Anguish of nations, not knowing the way out..." - Luke 21:25. Harmful occurrences arise that are not easily corrected. This is one example of how "man’s way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step." - Jeremiah 10:23.

The kid needs a life. Get rid of the tablet. I know from personal experience. The current new normal is not normal for any of us.
