Gross Food Product Report: Planters Salted Caramel Peanuts

My daughter purchased a "treat" for her kids, aged 4 to 9. Salted caramel peanuts, although the label clearly states artificial flavor.

Anyway, the kids thought they didn't taste good and refused to eat more than their first bite. So me (you know my kind, right? the kind who think of the starving Indians, that never throws any food away), I say, "Give them to me, I'll eat them."

Instead of eating those nuts, I should have eaten my words.

THEY WERE DISGUSTING. NAUSEATING. Just plain bad...

Shame on Planters!

In fact, I seldom buy anything Planters these days. There are too many genuinely delicious nut brands available these days.

I haven't tried them and now I will not try them. If you and your grandchildren don't like them I probably wouldn't either. I buy dry roasted and salted peanuts from ALDI. They are salted with sea salt. A good friend of mine tells me his favorite nut is cinnamon sugar coated roasted almonds but I think he really likes milk chocolate covered almonds best.

I haven't tasted salted caramel anything as I simply don't like the thought of such a thing nor have I tasted chilli chocolate, again because I don't like the thought of such a taste combination.

I refuse to drink those doctored coffees with every manner of gloop in them. Coffee is coffee and should be respected for how IT tastes. That being said, "each to his own". I only ever add half-and-half to coffee, letting it be the lightener and the sweetness.

I am not very fond of salted or roasted nuts. I prefer fresh, unshelled. And these days, I have to make do with almond butter because my teeth can't take the crunch anymore!

I'm with kasman on that salt and caramel? Odd

Haha... Or like my wife, the crunch may be a tooth, right? My teeth are fine. My gums are not.

Yes, a tooth or a filling. As the teeth get old they get more brittle. I have stopped eating toffees for the same reason - they pulled my fillings out!
