Nostalgia? Do You Remember: When LINKS were Always Blue?

When I first heard anything much about computers that was of any real interest to me, it had to do with computer games.

There was this game called ZORK . It was a simple text game. If you're old as the hills, you may have heard of it. I played it and was fascinated.

Well, the early Internet now has a history. The History of the Internet, it seems that old to us. It's part of life. Too much a part, if you get down to it.

Well, if you pulled up a page and were reading, the page might have directed you to a link leading to another article. You knew it was a link, because a short segment of the text was not black, as most of it was, but blue .

Well it seems no one wants us to get too comfortable. Our browsers, our email, those pages, EVERYTHING is in a churning state of turmoil. Everyone tries to update everything. They're grabbing to receive your attention, and the electronic buck they hope you can bring them.

So it is, even the simple symbol representing a link has to change. Bye-bye blue! Are you nostalgic for blue links? Well, guess what... IT is becoming such you won't have time to become nostalgic over any Internet feature. They'll change that often.

I want to roll over BEFORE I get into my grave.

Yes, it seemed at one time that if you changed the link color, no one knew it was a link. Now they can be any color you like!

It's a vague memory. But I remember when links were blue. Why my memory is blurry now is because when I started using the Tumblr platform, I could choose a free template and customize it. Part of customizing was that it often allowed me to select the color for my links. I've changed the color so many times I sort of forgot about the time when the links were blue and I didn't have a choice in the matter.
