Out of the Mouth of Babes - My Four Year Old Standup Comedian

My wife and I, up in years, are raising our three grandchildren. The youngest, just four, has a smathering of autism. Although he's quite bright, his thinking at times surprises us. Never more so than the other day.

The older two grandchildren were carrying on and we were faced with one difficulty after the other. However, Little Guy gets a thought in his head, and it cannot be adjusted. He wanted batteries and a screwdriver to put new batteries in various toys. We had neither a screwdriver of the proper size, nor suitable batteries. We explained. He kept at it. Explain to no avail.

Finally, in the depths of frustration, I said to him, "Noah! You just don't have a clue!"

He looked up at me and meekly said, "Can you help me find a clue?"

Kids are fantastic! They can be very frustrating too.

If at first you don't succeed, ask grandad! Keep an eye on him with those batteries. Swallowing a button battery can have very serious consequences.
