Visiting the Past

For some reason, this bookmark showed up in my bookmarks bar, peeking up from a long list of forgotten web destinations, taking the place of some recently discarded site. Persona Paper. I never was quite sold on the name, but at least it was easy to remember.

I wasn't very good at writing here. I reached payout at $5, but didn't take it because the owners were going through the usual growing pains of a site and I wanted to give them a chance to succeed. Then the value of our banks fell. I struggled back to $5, but the payout threshold changed to $20. You can see where this is going.

But I am surprised to see so many members still writing and socializing here. I admire the loyalty. I think. I don't think there is any monetary reward promised. I don't know who runs the place anymore. I don't think there are any of these sites that make money these days. The web has changed - again. Hey, I remember when the blogosphere was the world of the future, a vibrant community of enthusiastic contributors. Until it wasn't.

I am going to look around a bit. I hope that PP doesn't go away. I may come back every 3 years and 1 day to check on it.

We are still hanging on by our fingernails! MegL now runs the site. There is no payment program but a few diehard members still write here. Glad to see you are still active online.

What you say about the atmosphere of the web is true. Frankly, writing just whatever crosses one's mind you would think would not bring in remuneration. That it ever did was a surprise to me. My problem with it at present is, unless you are a major name you stand little chance of making it online. And some of the big names shouldn't be making money for what they do. It's just another unfair aspect of this old world.

Many people liked the layout of PersonaPaper and writing here, even if not paid. Personapaper is moving up the Google ranks and MAY be able to return to a paying site but not just yet.

I never really got the name either if I am honest. I still pop in regularly although I haven't written anything for a long time but I do like to keep up with what's going on, its just that nothing interesting happens in my life these days to make me want to write about it!

The internet is very different today, its not all bad but the money in writing is definitely not what it was. I have moved away from freelancing as well, it just isn't worth the time and trouble anymore.

These days, I wonder if being active is a good idea The atmosphere has changed so much. I miss the old days.

There are places to make money writing online, but they generally don't bring fame since it's writing copy for other people's websites and blogs.

It woud be great if it could return to its fomer glory.

Writing for money these days means writing to order and it's not fun - it's just work. I miss the fun times here and on the old B site. When I look back here, it jogs my memory and suddenly a world of people is alive again. The internet is a strange thing.

Demand Studios used to be work that was, believe me, no fun. However, it typically DID PAY $25 per. Before it got *too* crazy, I wrote there as much as I could.

I used to quite enjoy freelancing because I was free to pick and choose what I wrote, there was so much work out there and the money used to be reasonable. Now though clients want more for less, because there are people around who will take less for the same work and there is less of a choice in what you write. I do still update my blogs occasionally, but the fun is gone from writing for me I think. I have other things to focus on so perhaps that is why but I just cant bring myself to write these days. I used to see writing as a hobby that I happened to get paid quite well for but now I just don't even know where to start with writing these days.

I feel much the same way. I don't write nearly as much as I used to largely because it isn't the fun it used to be for me. These days I have turned my attention to photography and I place many images on various photo-sharing sites (Pixabay is one of them). Even if the 'old days' were to come back I doubt it would make me write more.

Lets all do update posts! Lets at least write occasionally, we all used to love it maybe we can bring some of the love back? I have just updated one of my blogs but the only reason I did was because when I updated it last night for the first time in months I promised I would and I didn't want to break a promise to my 0 readers lol. I'm hitting the hay soon but I will be back online tomorrow evening and I promise I will do an update on my life post, I hope to see a few more people doing the same!

It's been several years now since I kept away from the site but took a peep today and found out that the site is still up and running. Hope everyone is still having a great time here.
