More Haste Less Speed
Familiarity Breeds Contempt
I was creating a new website today. I had bought the domain name and wanted to create the site on some hosting I already had, that had room for extra domains (add-on domains). I have done this a number of times, so am used to the procedure. I have also recently created a template for a website that I can use to make the process faster, because it can take up to 30 minutes to get a website looking the way you want, even before you add blog posts to it.
So I was not paying attention because (a) I have done this lots of times and (b) I was thinking what I would add into the new website. This is because, although I have had this idea in my head for some time, it was an incident last night that prompted me to get this site started.
Not Paying Attention
That's when the trouble starts - when you know how to do something very well and you're in a hurry because you really should be doing something else, like laundry or housework! I created the new website but mistakenly overwrote my original web site on something else, instead of making a brand new one. That means my good website, nearly a year old has disappeared and been replaced by a new oe with no content!
As soon as I realised, I contacted the hosting service and they have already replied that they will try and restore it from their backups. Whew!
