The Feature I Hate on Web Pages

Years ago, I used to make my own web pages. But if one wishes to keep up with the times, it behooves him to seek the help of an expert. So I've pretty much abandoned the idea of making my own "from scratch" webpages.

There is a problem. You know the adage: if you want something done right you have to do it yourself...

Well if you don't do it yourself, you have to expect to see things on sites that drive you c-r-a-z-y! And there is one thing in particular that fills that bill for me. It happens when I move my mouse around on a page. Just as I am going to click on something, something to the side, slides over what I was looking at, taking over the view. It may even cause me to click on something I had no intention of clicking. That may include sending me to an entirely different site.

Sometimes this happens on the IMDB movie site, though on that site, the block comes from the top, rather than the side, so I can't read the description the site was designed to provide. I hate that! It's just plain ignorant!

Do you have a gripe concerning web page design?

I hate that too. It's extremely annoying. I also dislike pop ups that want your email address before you can read the rest of the page. They let you read maybe 2 sentences before they pop up and won't go away. I know the site owner wants to be able to email you but I can't decide whether I am willing to do that until I have read the content.

Very true. And the fascinating thing is, some of the worst offenders are some of the most popular sources. They BURN ME UP. Well, I don't actually burn up...

This is why I like reading books. No pop ups.

I agree. This happens to me many times at certain websites. I imagine I have already too many Emails to deal with already.
