Today I will have to become silent and not whisper or talk because due to talking over the past few days has kept my laryngitis from healing 100%

I have done practically everything to insure good health after the flu.

Except, keeping my mouth shut!

I have gotten over the flu, a bad flu that has taken a while to get fully over it but due to the fact that in spite of moderate laryngitis, which I get about once every other year at some time or another, I failed to head the facts that are written on many reliable websites that all state the exact same thing, which is, "IF YOU HAVE LARYNGITIS DON'T TALK, DO NOT EVEN WHISPER." They tell us on all the sites about how important is is to rest your voice, that is why after a long night's sleep my voice seems almost normal but then I start talking every morning, to my wife, which is basically normal for me, I notice I have to clear my throat and talk and realize that my vocal chords are not working perfectly. It will be now about day 7 since the symptoms of laryngitis began after getting over the flu and only today I can actually write here about it, that I have to start DAY ONE with not talking, not even whispers.

On top of that, I have allergies, bronchitis and GERD and sleep apnea. All these are tied in to each other in some form or another. There is a definite feedback loop with having problems with snoring at night, as before I began using my new BIPAP machine, and the constant dry cough that also irritates the throat and larynix.

It isn't easy to just stay quiet and not even make a sound but what have I got to loose, besides my voice, right?

I will rest my voice for several days if at all possible, trying to answer my wife's questions with a pad of paper and a ball point pen. It will be quite a challenge for me, because well, I am quite the talker!

The voice is a thing I no longer will ever take for granted and I will learn to speak softly in the future and that will be a good improvement in many ways.

Can you add moisture of some kind to the bipap machine, so your throat doesn't get so dry? Maybe you and your wife should try a "silence" type board game, where you don't need to talk.

I knew it had to be you. Anyone who writes an article with some 29 words in the title HAS to be Anthony. No way a guy who writes titles that long can keep quiet! Don't forget to write about your growing up, your moves, interesting places you have seen, and curious people you have met. Speak of your choice of art, your hobbies, and so forth. Guy, you underestimate your potential. One thing by way of advice. Edit what you write. For instance, your title would be better by far without these words included: "due to". Your pal, Vince.

Yep. I have been writing most of it down but I have to actually talk a few times just to get things off my chest. LOL

Thanks Vincent. I will make sure my next post has a shorter title. LOL
