Sometimes One Thing Leads to Another

I have a friend who decided to work on a tree with the goal of improving it, when he fell. He needed medical attention! During the process of checking him out, they discovered a spot on his lung. He was treated for cancer very early, as a result. Talk about good fortune! One thing had led to another.

Well, in avoiding stepping on a cat, I fell onto concrete steps, breaking my wrist. Upon being X-rayed, technicians discovered I had "severe osteopenia". I was treated for my wrist, to be sure, but I will soon be given a treatment plan for my osteopenia.

Have you experienced such a thing, where one thing leads to another?

I went to my doctor complaining about being tired all the time and ended up getting a triple bypass!

My sister in law fell and broke a bone. They discovered she had hyperparathyroidism, which removes calcium from the bones (leading to osteopenia and oseoporosis) but also puts calcium into the bloodstream, which can lead to confusion.

Good grief! How many conditions are there, anyway? It's amazing medicine successfully deals with any of them.
