That's What Friends Are For

Have you ever heard the saying (or some variant of it): You help me out, I help you out. That's what friends are for...

Frankly, I disagree greatly. Why is that? Because friends mean more than that.

Even criminals follow the tenet. "You scratch my back and I'll scratch your back."

Friends come to the aid of friends, not expecting anything back. Friends are there when you are down and out. Friends come to your aid in any way they can. Friends can overlook bad moods and negative remarks.

That's what friends are about. To quote scripture,

"There exists a friend sticking closer than a brother." - Proverbs 18:24b.

Yes, friends walk in when the world walks out.

A point well put Vince. Fair weather friends are not true friends.

I like this and it is so true. A friend in need is a friend indeed.

It is true that good friends are there when you need then. They'll overlook bad moods, and listen when you need to vent. Good friends are there for you, no matter what.
