Consuelo: A Not-Too-Famous Actress Dies - Elena Verdugo

We can't keep track of everyone who dies, of course. But sometimes an actor or actress we grew up with dies and we are shocked to hear they are dead. No, we're not too shocked if they've been long dead. But if they died recently and we never heard it happened, that may shock us.

I have just started re-watching episodes of Marcus Welby, M.D. and decided to see whatever became of the nurse who ran the office of Dr. Welby and Dr. Kiley, namely Consuelo Lopez. Her name was Elena Verdugo. I learned she died last month, May 2017! I was shocked I'd heard not one word.

Do you remember her? Did you watch the show? She was, somehow, not just another character, but an excellent addition to the show.

I wonder what prompted you to start watching the episodes of Marcus Welby MD? Maybe you heard the news while you were not paying full attention? Possibly that prompted you to watch, which then prompted the search for the actress? It certainly is a fascinating coincidence.

I don't watch TV per se. I watch strictly what I can watch online, and generally that which I already have watched and approved of in my own mind. I last watched Murder She Wrote. I check on the various actors to see if they remain alive. It's a habit for a genealogy buff.

I have never seen Marcus Welby MD but I used to love watching the medical programs on UK TV, especially Dr Finlay's Casebook, which was based on a book by the Scottish author A J Cronin.

Hm. I wonder how many of those shows are available on YouTube? There is a download site specifically used to download YouTube videos. I keep shows I like on my hard-drive. Would you kindly list a few of those med shows?

Thanks, Meg! I'll check the shows out. One I would like to see from the U.S. is the early (1930s-1940s) episodes of Dr. Kildare with Lew Ayres & Lionel Barrymore. Only two are readily available at present.
