Beauty Creams, Hair Care Products? Save Your Money

Many people, not to say women <grin>, love to shop. They like to spend money. And one of the things they like to spend it on is beauty products. They want their skin nourished, their hair restored.

Well, for the most part, allow me to suggest they would be better served to save their money. Spend it on other things.

Skin--the outer layer of it, which is what everyone sees--is actually dead tissue. It gradually falls off the body to appear in the form of dust webs under the beds and in the corners of the house. If the person takes a little too much sun, it comes off in larger pieces as peeling. It protects while it is in place, and appears invisible, but it is dead and cannot be "nourished."

As for hair? Essentially keratin protein. Again, lifeless material. In fact, related to finger nails. Yes, another lifeless item. About the only thing helpful for hair--if one views even that as helpful--is to dye it. But personally, I find gray hair attractive. It's a sign of wisdom, and properly styled, perhaps with a touch of blue hair rinse, it is pleasing to the eye.

And, to be honest, nothing looks worse than an older person trying, not just to appear young, but trying to act young. Emphasis on the word "act." Do you disagree?

No creams on my face or color in my hair, BUT I put cream on my hands in winter, they need it otherwise they crack. I am currently putting cream on my legs because the skin there is peeling (getting old) and it does seem to help. I have heard of some people spending £200 a month on makeup. I never had that kind of money to spend on that sort of stuff and it would annoy me to do so!

I had a hair cut last month, a buzz cut. It was so nice to feel the cold water on my scalp with all that extra white stuff gone. Looking down at the floor at the hair salon, it looked like snow. I use basic hair shampoo and not much more than cold water. I towel dry it and it just feels good.
