People are getting pretty desperate when they start taking your porch plants in the middle of the night.

My next door neighbor had a late night visitor on his front porch

This time it was not his barbecue grill, but instead his prized flowers in a ceramic pot, lifted by a porch pirate in the early morning hours.

He has signs in his yard that indicate he is protected by security

But that didn't stop them!

I am annoyed by the fact that, something as simple but personal as one's own flowers in a planter, sitting on their front porch have to have some kind of metal cage with a padlock on it just to keep thieves from snatching it for lack of anything else for them to spend their worthless hours doing.

Up to no good!

Yes, they are up to nothing good. I find that I am living in a city that is not protected or secured as it should be. I find it difficult to accept the fact that petty theft in our neighborhood is on the rise in spite of the fact that currently we are looking for a new Dallas Police Chief, and currently the last one retired from office and has not yet been replaced.

Dallas needs another great police chief like David Brown

That's nothing new, unfortunately. That has happened for many years, even in peaceful areas. Very annoying.

It's sad when people do start taking potted plants. I don't understand it all. It's quite sad. And annoying for people like your neighbour.

People stealing flowers? Uumm … actually I've heard of that being done. I grew up in Florida. It's a common theft and I don't know why. Almost everybody in Florida has flowers anyway!!! Why you got to steal somebody else's? (O.o) Good article about that police chief. I agree. He's a good man.
