Interesting to be Back

So I joined a site called Niume a while back when I heard this site was shutting down (glad to see it hasn't! I very much enjoyed this blogging community, although it does stink a little that they no longer are able to pay. I hope the creators are doing ok and haven't lost much by keeping this site up). But the blog site I use now I quite much enjoy. It is a lot more picture/video-orientated which makes it pretty and gives life to posts, but getting pay is slow, especially if you don't use the referral link part (where you and the person who joins both receive $1 if the person joins using your referral link), and the community isn't as close as this one was.

I also have saddening news in my own life. I recently was charged with a dui. I do not wish to say much more about it due to how it could possibly incriminate me some way, but I am most afraid about my driving privileges being suspended. I live in a town where we don't have a public transport system, so I would have to use a taxi or Uber to go back and forth to work. I was also informed that I should find myself an attorney but I have called a couple and only got voicemails. I'm just feeling so discouraged right now. If I lose my license, what will I do? I can't rely on taxis or uber to get me to work on time, especially if it'll take them 10-20 minutes to get to my place but I'm not about to try to drive around on a suspended license as I read that can get you into even more trouble and even jail time. And the amount of money all of this is about to cost me too...I'm a year fresh out of college. I don't have much. How will I be able to pay for fees and lawyers and everything? This is beyond far the worst thing that has ever happened in my life. I just feel stuck between a rock and a hard place with nowhere to go.

Welcome back. You HAVE got yourself into a hard place! You could look for a car pool or car sharing, with you paying instead of contributing a car.

Welcome back! You're definitely not in an easy situation. It definitely doesn't sound like a pleasant situation. I hope that everything turns out alright. Best of luck.

Thank you! I'm glad to finally have gotten around to getting back on this site and seeing it is not taken down. I have missed this close-knit community!

That is what my boss suggested, especially since two of my coworkers pretty much drive past me if they're ever on their way to work. The only thing is that on weekdays there is usually only one person working so I wouldn't be able to really do carpooling since they wouldn't even be going into work at the same time as me on those days. I have thought about trying to bike there, although based on Google Maps it looks like it'll be about an hour long bike ride, give or take.

I miss the community here as well. I was glad to find it still up and running.

You are in a bad place. I hope you are able to work something out so you can get to work. Sometimes a judge will give a waiver on the suspension for driving only to and from work. The reason they make the punishment so severe is because they don't want you to do this again. It's easy to kill someone -- even yourself -- when you drive drunk. I know you would not want to do that, so maybe what you are going through now will convince you it's not worth it to get in the car after you've been drinking.

I'm sorry to hear about your trouble with the DUI. MegL 's advice about carpooling is good, and it sounds like it will work for you. I am at Niume, too, although I haven't been very busy at it. It's a pretty site, but as you said, it's not as close-knit as here.
