It's hard to do a download from the internet while another person is also watching live streaming videos.

I realize that sharing is caring but, I noticed today that while trying to download a video to my PC my wife was also looking at her Kindle Fire tablet and the speed of my download was reduced from the usual 3 to 4 minutes it normally takes to download a video to nearly half an hour.

I think that the bit rate of the download was reduced from nearly 1.0 MB per second to 250 KB per second.

The fact is, the network service provider supposedly lets you get up to 100 MB per second for live streaming videos but I tend to think this is not accurate.

To look into this further requires that I do a basic Google search on the subject:

download time reduced for live streaming videos with multiple users on a shared network .

Yes, if more than 1 person is surfing, everything slows. Your video provider might allow fast downloads but it also depends on your own network provider's allowance or capability. I have a good connection here, with fibre optic broadband but even that can get overloaded at times.

We had to change to fibre optic broadband because even with speeds of 17mb per second that we were getting on standard broadband it was still really slow at times, probably because we have so many devices and live in a building with nine flats in a row of other buildings with nine flats so its a lot of people who are using the same exchange which ultimately slows everyones broadband down. The 38mb per second we get now is pretty stable though and doesn't seem affected by other people being on the internet

Well, maybe there needs to be a schedule for users so that they can manage their time online and that way everybody can get faster access by alternating the times in which they use the internet so that way the speeds will be faster for everyone who is using the internet at any given time instead of every body all the time at once.

It can slow things down, when more than one person is surfing online. Such is life with internet sometimes.

Yeah same here when I turn on my iPhone hotspot and use netbook wifi (connect to iPhone) at the same time 🙂
