Using my time constructively

since I am unable to do much more than sit on the sofa just now with my sore back I thought it was a good time to get some stuff done I have been needing to do for ages and use the time constructively.

I cancelled my sky tv subscription this morning. I have been talking about doing it for ages, its a whole lot of money we don't really need to be spending and they are not willing to reduce the bill. I have it on good authority (from a sky employee) that if you cancel, at some point during your notice period they will call and offer you 50% off. If they make that offer I may accept it but otherwise I am sure we can live without it.

I then moved onto the phone and broadband. Again we have been out of contract for a few months and so are paying a higher price. I couldn't negotiate as good a deal as last year, but I got a fiver odd a month off what I currently pay, plus a free much better router than the one we have, so I will count that as a win.

I also had a good look at changing my credit cards. I have a significantly better credit score than I did a year ago, thanks in large part to no longer being a student and getting a bank loan to pay everything off a while back. This means I am now eligible for some pretty fantastic deals. I already have an American express card and four other credit cards, most of which have pretty high interest rates. I plan to keep the American express one, maybe keep one of the others because it comes with some pretty good benefits and get one new one to replace the others.

That also got me thinking about potentially refinancing my existing bank loan - I would now qualify for a loan at around one third of the interest rate my current loan has. However I will need to speak to the bank to see what, if any penalties there would be for paying my existing loan off early with a new loan. The car finance I will probably leave alone for now.

I then threw myself into business stuff. I have been letting my business slide recently because I have been so busy and the point of my business was to make me less busy not more. So I have streamlined things, set up a new much better website (http://foreverwithkirsty.myforever.biz if you are interested) which I think is so much better than the one I had before. The one I had before was very focused on recruitment and I couldn't personalise it really, its only benefit was an online shop which very few people actually used anyway. The new site gives me much more control and still gives customers access to the online store - hopefully more use will be made of this.

The only problem is I now need to redo my business cards, flyers, facebook page and basically everything else that I have promoting my business with the new website. So in the short term until I get all that done I will just need to have two websites for the business.

The one thing I have yet to do is work on my blogs, I have been neglecting them recently, mostly because I make very little money out of them and frankly I don't have the time to waste on something that isn't really benefiting me much.

I had changed my pain medication slightly this morning. What I was taking was pretty much knocking me out or leaving me so drowsy I could barely answer an email. So today I took just one co-codamol and one paracetamol along with my naproxen instead of taking the full dose of co-codamol. It has been enough to keep my reasonably comfortable without knocking me for six. I think I will continue with this dose for a few days and then see if I can cut the codeine altogether because it really does make me sleepy.

You know me, always busy. Just because I cant really go anywhere wont stop me from sitting on the laptop getting stuff done. The painkillers might knock me out for a while though

Right now I could use a good pain killer. I have had an abscess tooth for a few days and I need something a bit stronger than aspirin or Tylenol, maybe I need some Hydrocodone. That is basically Tylenol with a bit of Codeine.

Wow. way to go. You have accomplished a lot in such little time. Congratulations. But I have to warn you about taking too much "pain" medication. I do not want to sound like a "nerd" but, yes, do cut down if you can gradually.

The codeine is certainly helping me, but it makes me very drowsy

I like to keep busy. Don't worry I'm a nurse so I know what I am doing with my meds

It's always a good idea to use your time wisely, as you've been doing. You've definitely been getting things done.
