My profession is a Librarian

Welcome to the profession that I am proud with. Why? This is my profession since 1998. Wow, that's almost 19 years ago. But to tell you honestly, when I was in my second grader in my Elementary years, I am one of the worst enemy of iur Grade School Librarian. Most of the time, she sent me to the Guidance office because my attitude in the Library. Until she's already full of anger against me. She slapped my fingers. I cried out loud then said "I will be a Librarian when I grow up and I will never slap the fingers of the library users!" Those words were not intentional but here I am now. A resident librarian of one of the prestigious institution here in the Philippines. I am already a librarian for 19 years. Currently, I am finishing my Graduate studies for the program Master in Library and Information Science. My Grade school librarian was already passed away and I thanked her for what I am right now. God bless her soul.

I wonder what attitude made her angry? It is great that you were able to take something good from her toxic attitude.

During that time, I tear off some of the pages of the book. I disarranged the books from one place to another.

Oh dear, I would have been cross about pages being torn out. Has anyone ever done that when you were a librarian?

10 years ago, about 5 pages of encyclopedia had been torn out by high school students as I disallowed them to photocopy those books.

It is not uncommon for one's path to go in the direction, such as this. You sound like you were quite a handful for the librarian back in those ideas.

I imagine that with the advent of the Internet, library science has changed so much. I know that I love the library, but one thing that I do not like much here nowadays, is that libraries are noisy. We weren't allowed to do anything but whisper back in the days when I was a girl.

Great picture, by the way.

I have been friends of my library a long time. I love it so much to go in and be greeted by a kind librarian and on a first name basis. Most of my motivation in life came from the resources of the local library. It makes me happy to see parents checking out so many books for their children while at the checkout. Yes, I can always go online and order ebooks, but nothing will ever replace the feeling of being in a public library, a place of learning for the eager and the curious looking for answers and trying to better their lives.

I know a few people who went into library studies. They enjoy it quite a bit.

Yes today, most of the libraries are very noisy.

That's cool. In contrary, I feel so sad that in my country, public libraries are very poor collection. So we cannot make it to go and read.
