Homemade Ink Made from Oak Tree Galls and Iron Nails - A Great Homeschool Project

Are you a DIY (do-it-yourself) kind of person? Do you enjoy teaching? Do you homeschool your kids or travel on family outings? Then you are a prime candidate for manufacturing your very own ink made from oak tree galls and iron nails. Yes, these are odd ingredients, indeed, but they connect to an historical form of ink used to write historical documents, including the U.S. Constitution.

Check out my article, with instructions, found on QuirkyScience . It is found here , and is entitled Iron Gall Ink from Oak Tree Galls. I do hope you will find it both educational and entertaining. That is, I hope it proves to be a fine example of edutainment. -Vince.

Oak trees were about the first we were taught to recognise in school. I loved their leaf shape and the acorns. Something else to look out for now.

I have a nice huge oak tree that is full of gall. I would like to see that tree converted into ink if I had my way about it. lol
